I had the pleasure to start the barrel break in on my New Carbine 22" SS 7mm TCU that I bought from VV. They had listed it on the board a little while back.

I wanted a 7 TCU in a carbine barrel for a while after having a real Disappointing go around with the T/C Custom Shop of Foxridge Outfitters.

I started the barrel Break in with 140 Grain Nosler bal tips over 24.4 Grains of H322with CCI 400 Primers in Lake City 01 223 Brass necked up to 7mm. These were fireforming loads & for barrel break in only.

To my surprise they worked extreamly well & produced four excellent targets at 25 Yards. The last target of 5 shots produced one ragged hole ! [Big Grin] I will try to get some help to post the target as soon as I can. The VVCG guys did another excellent job! [Cool]

I still have 30 more rounds of barrel break in to do. Which should be a lot of fun.

I'm not surprised at that. I shot my first IHMSA Production 40x40 using a fireforming load with military brass and 120 gr. Hornady SP bullets. I have since come to learn that it is nearly impossible to dream up a bad load in the 7TCU. It can be done I'm sure, but it wants to shoot most things very well. Good luck. Russ

Rich-

I'm glad to hear that (but not at all surprised!).

I have a feeling this may become one of you favorites. I do most of my hunting with handguns but still use rifles now and then. However, when I do, it's still a T/C single shot. And for the last few months, I find myself reaching more and more often for that 20" carbine in 7mm Bullberry that I got from Russ. WIth the Sierra 130 grain SSPs at 2505 fps, it's a tremendous performer on deer. Sometimes this summer, though, I do plan to run a few 140 grain BTs through it.

They recomend 50 shots if I'm remembering correctly. I don't have the paper handy right now.

I wasn't planning on using the 140's. I had them left over from the T/C Barrel with it's extreamly long throat. So I figured that they would be good for Fireforming & barrel break in. I guess I'll have to consider them with full power loads now.

Thanks for the help posting the pic for me.
