Jules,

Gotta love that camo frame... Were you able to buy it separate or did you have to buy a whole rifle to get it?

If you bought it separate where'd you get it?

For an iron sighted sixgun, I consider 75 yds a practical max distance from a rest, and 35-40 yds offhand. If I were to put in more long distance practice, I might slightly extend that range.

I don't know what the best field rest's are for a revolver, if a tree is available I like to brace against one, if not, a crossed pair of trekking or skiing poles work well.

Jules,

Lookin good! Looks like my velocity prediction was pretty close. I wonder if you're encore will also show that it won't develop much speed with the 325's using H-110. I think Lil-gun is the powder if you want to push the light bullets fast. With H-110, I couldn't get past 1350 fps, more powder didn't increase velocity.

Lemme know if you want to try the 460's, You should be able to get about 1300 fps with 19 gr H-110

Bob, The frame ONLY was on gunbroker for a long time and I couldn't take it anymore. Came from James Lewis in Tenn. I figure it came off a 12ga or 209-50 set up in full camo. Wasn't cheap though. Cost me $315. with transfer fees and shipping.

Paul,

I didn't really look for speed...yet I just wanted to see how accurate it was. I figure a 400gr cast at 1400+ FPS will drop just about anything I would be shooting.

I'm gonna work with the 275s and see if I can come up with an accurate load like with the 325s. I figure that would make a great deer dropper

I'll let ya know on the 460 when I get more time to work with it. Thanks for the offer.

Jules,

You should be able to push the 325's about 1700 fps, maybe 1800 and change w/ the 275's

After a long hiatus, I'm finally getting back to casting. I'll try and get a run of 460's in. I have a former co-worker that's wanted to shoot my 480

I'll be curious to see how your barrel groups with various powder charges. In the SRH, as charges increase, groups tighten up, then start to get larger.

While all my cast bullets have been very accurate, the 310 fr LFN seems to be even a bit better. With 9.7 gr unique it'll do 950 fps from my revolver, and shoot better than I can. In your encore you'd probably be up around 1100 fps, and I wouldn't be the least suprised if it would group five into a 1" group at 100 yds

I don't know that I wanna push the 325 to 1700 The 275s at 1700 had some bite to them.

What I need is more brass Paul. You know anyone selling any? Used is fine. Most places want 40 bucks a 100 for new and I just can't see that. I paid 19.99 + 5 bucks shipping for the ones I have.

How much brass do you need? I have 200 cases, and I'm sure some have been loaded 20 plus times. So long as you don't do a massive bell or crimp, the brass will last a long time. I lost maybe 10 cases when setting up the dies, as I got carried away with belling and crimping, but since then, neck splits are pretty rare to find, every once in awhile I'll see one. The hornady brass is great stuff, just lasts and lasts. I never really paid attention to the price, as I've had it 3 years, and dont' plan on buying anymore.
