Ive pretty much decided that my next pistol length barrel for my Encore is going to be chambered in 6BR. I was thinking about a 16" bull or hvy varmint. Should I worry about spec-ing a minimum chamber and tight neck? I'm thinking about a quicker twist than the standard 12 say a 1 in 10". Primary use will be to punch paper and the occasional chuck or fox. Even with Bobby's recent bad exp. with DVH I'd still like to give em a try on this barrel. Any advice on the round, chambering and barrel length would be greatly appreciated. Dave [ 01-12-2003, 09:29: Message edited by: Dave Jenkins ]

Dave- I would go with the standard and not tight neck as this round is plenty accurate as is -- and the additional hassle of neck-turning isn't worth it unless you are into serious competition. Even with my experience with Van Horn, I'd suggest giving him a try. I'll probably have him do something else for me later on and am hoping the 6.5x55 barrel was an isolated incident. As to twist, I would definitely go at least 1:12 but would feel best with a 1:10, as that's what all of my 6mm single shots have had. You can't overstabilize a bullet (within reason, of course), but you can certainly understabilize one...
