Maybe it's just me but I see you now have to be a member on GBO to read the forums. If he has a block on the forums to nonmembers then how are the thousands of nonmember folks going to see those advertisement banners that people like ED and MBM pay to have there????
Like I said though....It may just be me [Roll Eyes]

It's just on the TC forums. GB said he put the block on the forums because of unregistered troublemakers. The block doesn't bother me.....I just dont go there anymore.

He should just allow registered users to post like every other forum if he wants to control who is posting. Non registered visitors could just read only.

Simple and his "problem" would be solved instead of pissing off anybody and everybody who goes there. Typical.

For a time it was called Taliban Outdoors. Could it now be Sodamn Insane Outdoors?

FWIW, the guru at my local server has a forum hooked up to my online store now..... it is not accessible as yet, nor has any "massaging" of its format been done yet, but one is in place.

I can't be too involved with it myself and will be wanting some good moderators onboard with a pretty fair sense of what is hospitible socially on the net, how a forum is managed from the back side, and most importantly a pretty fair grasp of what is technically correct info. A gentle hand guiding "knuckle draggers" "into the light" is important. Maybe some of you can do a better job of that than I can, especially when it becomes so repetitious that I start to get cras. [Wink]

Another FWIW, it is good for some gratuities.

I can think of a number of good forum topics. Should be fun.

Hopefully I and my moderators will manage it better than GBO. Instead of just being critical of GBO all the time, let's move on and see if we can't do something better for the benefit of all the TC shooters.

I plan to leave the forum pretty wide open, btw, and it won't be structured just to suit my interests. It will be as technically correct as it can be concerning barrels and accessories from all sources, not just from me and my limited capabilities. When I do post, I will do my best to differentiate between my personal bias and objectivity while letting folks pretty much do their thing.

email me at mike@bellmtcs.com if interested.

IMHO, the problem with the other shooting forums is that they are moderated!

While there are some folks here that are titled moderators or forum leaders here at AR, I can assure you that all they do is post like the rest of folks.

I can think of one, or possibly two instances where I considered a members posts out of line, and made a comment. Other then that, the best way to foster a free flow of information, is to keep the flow freed up!

Agreed, the moderating should not be heavy handed. By and large here on AR, there is no need for a heavy hand.

Basically, what I am proposing is a pretty free running site geared more to the things I do, but run by you guys.

Since I would expect much of my forum activity to revolve around what I do, I think it is more appropriate for me to pay for it as opposed to asking Saeed to set up special interest, commercial forums here on AR.

So, for the record, I am not trying to detract from AR, and like others, I appreciate having the AR forum.

Over the weekend, progress was made in getting my forum site underway. Looks like it will come together nicely.

While there was an exodus from GBO, obviously not everyone found their way here to AR where the level of understanding is much more inducive to successful shooting.

And there is a nucleus of posters here that would probably never pay attention to my forum.

From what I see, my forum should be a pretty good cross over between the two as well as the other TC related forums out there. Pick up info you need from my forum and use it to enhance the other forums where permitted, which is everywhere except GBO. [Big Grin]

We all have our own personalities and prejudices and need a place to hang out that is friendly to our point of view, including "THE TC Heretic."

Just want to make a difference for the benefit of all.

I am told by the head "factotem" that it will take a couple weeks of massaging my forum before it goes public. There is a moderators' forum already set up. If you want to be a moderator for a pet interest you have , let me know, and I will give you access to it.

In the three years I've had my site up I've only gotten irritated with one person causing problems - guess who? Fortunately he left in a huff.

I noticed too much micromanagement, and slanted opinions on GB's site, and quite visiting it.

His view on some issues toaght me to dissregard most of his input.
