Just thought I would throw this out to my fellow TC pistol shooters. Click on the link below to see a story about the Beltway Sniper possibly using a long range handgun to commit these acts. I will let you guys draw your own conclusions about this story.
I would tend to think it is a t/c, or xp type pistol also. I am no great shooter but I did have a contender in .35 rem. With hornady 180 ssp bullets anyone that could hold it steady on the bags could bust milk jugs and 2 liter bottles at 200 yards all day long, including my ex girlfriend, who had never fired a weapon of this type. A 200 yard shot is not the miracle that the press would have us believe.
I don't like the fact that people are even considering a T/C Contender as a possibility. If this turns out that way & it was a contender you'd see all kinds of ridiculous regs & laws for ownership of these pistols.
I know when I was in the service I was able to hit the 300 meter pop up target with the M16 with iron peep sites regularly. There is no reason that it couldn't be a semi auto rifle or your standard bolt action varment rifle for that matter. How hard would a 150 yard shot be, with a good varment rifle?
The best thing for everyone is, this moron gets caught soon. Hopefully this idiot doesn't cost the rest of us lawabiding people futher loss of our rights.
One last thing it is bad enough if it is some kind of nut doing this! Hopefully it isn't imported snipers!

We T/C shooters know the accuracy capability in .223 and many other calibers. I have been thinking that the sniper could have been using a T/C for the past week or so. It scares me that this will fuel the fire of the anti's and make possible more useless and costly legislation against our "preferred" weapons.
I would think that the ATF already knows which make and model of barrel these bullets have been fired from and are not willing to divulge that information yet. Or, possibly that there is more than one sniper or more than one weapon being used. They are also avoiding referencing the word "terrorist", probably to avoid panic and also to not tempt other cells to begin the same tactic. If Bin Laden is dead and Al-Queda is in turmoil, perhaps this is a cell acting on their own without direction from their leaders. This could be just the beginning of a true nightmare for this country. I would like to see the sniper taken out by a "ordinary citizen" with the right to carry. That would really stick in the throats of the anti's.
In the artical it said Neal Knox of Firearms Coalition{ former NRA President of Institute for legislative action}. Firearms Coalition pro-gun or anti-gun? Sounds anti-gun? Lone Hunter

On one of the news networks today, they said the spent cases had ejection marks. So the firearm is probably a semi-auto. The individual is probably smart enough to fire only once.

Neal is a 2nd Amendment fighter/firearms writer from way back. He was closely associated with Harlon Carter who himself formed the NRA-ILA back in the 70's.
Some have called Neal a troublemaker as his brand of activism borders on militancy but he has a wealth of info on the Pro-Gun front and a LOT of contacts in Washington.
Bookmark his site for late breaking info on the 2nd Amendment front and throw him a few bucks when you can.
To me the Contender "proposition" looks like a potential ban of these handguns in the future ! We had our law changed after the school incident and you can`t have a pistol grip on a pump action shotgun since then , the funny part is , that the guy didn`t use the pump at all ! Watch out !

Jurgen That is what bothers me about that idea being thrown around. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the next move was to try to ban these pistols. Rich Jake
