Well, I've learned the hard way not to deal with Eds TCs when it comes to used barrels. I attempted to buy to different used barrels from him in the last month and I had to send both of the back because he lied about both of them. I bought a 14" 35 rem barrel from him fisrt along with a new wood forend and I made it very clear that if there was anything wrong with the bore, that I would not want it. He told me nothing was wrong with it. I got the barrel and sure enough, a bad pitted area just ahead of the chamber and a burr where it looked like something sliced the corner of one of the lands. The new forend had the finish messed up on one side as well. I called him and he said that I could send it back but he didn't give me the impression that he wanted to make me happy. He had a barrel that he told me was a 10 inch 357 max that had been rechambered from a 357 mag which was what I wanted to begin with but could not locate one. I told him to send me the max and refund me the differnce which was $60 because I did not need a forend for a 10 inch barrel. When I got the barrel, the barrel appeared to be a factory chambered 357 max with the long forcing cone for a throat that I did not want and the check that was supposed to be for $60 was only for $30. I had explained this to him at least twice before he shipped it to me. He understood the whole idea of why a rechambered 357 mag barrel was a better way to go than a factory max chambered barrel at the time. When I called him and told him that this was not what he told me it was, he played dumb and acted like he had no idea of the difference in the throats of a factory chambered barrel and a rechambered barrel. I told him I wanted to send it back as well and said go ahead. I had been very nice with him through all of this frustration. I told him that I wanted to just go ahead and buy a new barrel because of the luck I was having with the used barrels but he basically told me that he didn't want to do business with me and that he would be sending me my money back. Well he waited for over a week after he got the second barrel back before he sent me a refund. I wanted to wait until I got the check before I mentioned any of this on here for fear that he wouldn't send anything back. He didn't reimburse me for the $20 I was out having to send the barels back to him due to no fault of mine. I wnat be doing business with him ever again. I had bought 4 barrels from him in the past and never had a problem. I posted this over on Graybeards but he locked the post down and basically told me that I was a liar and that I just wanted to bitch about his sponsors. That's BS. He just don't want people to hear about things like this on his site if it's about one of his sponsors.

I am shocked to hear of a problem with Ed, but your experience with Graybeard is one of many reasons why so many people abandoned his little pond years ago.

I've never had a problem with Ed, but he is VERY hard to catch at certain times of the year. In addition to the gunshop, he runs a separate business (I believe he's a CPA) and makes a ton of gun shows annually. I am not making excuses for him, but I am somewhat shocked at your problems.

Yeah, I am just as shocked. I have done business with on 4 different occassions prior to this and it was all good. I have even taken up for him on Graybeards in the past when someone else had mentioned that they had a less than satisfactory deal with Ed because of the great way I had been treated in the past by Ed. I don't know what happened this time but two screwups in a row and that's all I'm going to take from him. I have also sent emails to all of the sponsors of Graybeards letting them know that I could no longer support them as long as they support Graybeard and I let them know why. Maybe if everyone did this, then it might get his attention when he starts loosing sponsors.
