...I mentioned in the other thread. And thanks for all the positive words in the "my best buck ever" thread. (Just click on the link to see the picture)
Moon- The buck is a Texas deer. It was taken near Junction, which is the western edge of the Hill Country. I didn't get to weigh the deer but would venture a live weight guess of app. 175 lbs., which is about average for a mature buck in this area.

Bobby, Great buck congrats. One thing is we need a better shot of the Carbine. In the photos it looks great but I would like to see a side shot of it. What kind of wood does it have?

Ken- The carbine has a nice Virgin Valley laminate forend in wide (target) configuration and complete with hanger bar system. The buttstock is plain ugly. It's a Choate, I believe, with the thumbhole-type configuration. But I will be putting something a little nicer on it soon.

Rich- Thanks for the offer. Would you e-mail me with some particulars (prices, etc) and whether you'd need a digital file or a print to work from -- and details of that area as well (print or image/file size, etc.)

You say you will change the stock out soon. Is the thumbhole ambidextrous? If so, I might be interested in buying it if it can be shot left handed, and if you're willing to sell.

W. Wilson- Yes, it's ambidextrous, but it's a Bell & Carlson, not Choate like I previously noted. I plan to offer it to our son, but he has a preference for wood. If he declines on the buttstock, I will contact you and see if you may want it. (I'd sell it relatively cheap, by the way...)

Hey Bobby congrats ! That's a good looking buck. Maybe I need to hang out near you & a little of your luck might rub off onto me. I could use it. Glad to see that a couple of the guys have scored so far. The season isn't over here for me yet but time is going quickly! Are you having him mounted ? Rich Jake

Rich- I wasn't going to have it mounted, only an antlers-board display. But then the taxidermist called, said he had a spare cape and could still do a shoulder mount, so I said yes. (That got me on good terms with the wife; she really wanted me to have a full shoulder mount done, but I kept telling her I didn't save (freeze or at least ice down) the cape.) Hope to have it back by the end of Spring or maybe mid-summer.
