Me too. Why not keep it simple and FUN. One rule. "Ya gota gun...shoot it" I do not feel we even have to mail in targets. There is no money involved is there? Lets agree on a standard way to measure group size and post results here.

Yes, we could either mail in the targets, OR those of us with digital camara's can post them in a thread right here.

A due date would seem to be good too, if everyone is agreeable?.

I'm in. Somebody decide on the rules and the targets. Also, my vote is for one individual to receive and grade the targets.

My services as target receiver are offered. I don't have a dog in the race and I don't really know anyone here.

I'm about as impartial as they come.

10 BAGS!! What are you expecting, return fire?

(You can always spot the ex combat engineers at the range. The "bunker builders")

Ok.. now the "honesty portion" of our quiz. How many entries per match? Postal matches I've shot in the past were pay per entry (useually one entry per gun). That's where the honesty prtion comes in. I shot a sucky group.... here it is. Not I shot 15, 5 shot groups, here's the best one. (of course you never say you took 15 tries to get it)

Boy, its good to see so many intrested in a postal shoot. I've tried these in the past as away to raise money for the LRHA with dismal results.

Those rules look familiar too [Big Grin]

I'll turn in a target when you have everything figured out and offer a couple cans of WIPE-OUT brushless bore cleaner if you want a prize incentive.
Maybe some of these other guys who sell stuff can put up some prizes to help make this fun for you guys.
If you need any help or have any questions on how 'The Den' and I did this let me know. I probably still have the targets we used around here somewhere if your intrested in checking them out.

GOOD LUCK!!

Grinder, If no one requests otherwise, i vote for you to become the target scorer!!

Cas, GOOD ONE!! LOL!

KTS1, I think that any prises sound GREAT!!

Questions.....

Paul, is this going to be a LRHA backed event?

What target? Is there a standard target that has been used in the past? One that is on the net that we could download and print?

2 shoots?
1 @ 100 yards
1 @ 200 yards

Another question, Entrance fee? If yes, how much per gun?

Let me know your thoughts.....we will have to get movin as the weather is still pretty nice.

OK Let me know where to send them

( is this going to be a LRHA backed event?)

The L.R.H.A. will support any of these events, thats why I offered the prize, but, your the boss on this one, after our last shoot we decided we wern't going to hold any more shoots this year as participation was nil. We may host one or two next year.

(What target? Is there a standard target that has been used in the past? One that is on the net that we could download and print?

2 shoots?
1 @ 100 yards
1 @ 200 yards)

There is no 'standard' target. In fact I tried to find a diffrent target to use each time to keep it intresting. I think the last one we used was a varmint

(Another question, Entrance fee? If yes, how much per gun?)

I would suggest keeping this fun and avoiding any entrance fee on your 1st go around. Our last 2 or 3 shoots were benefit shoots and had a $5.00 entrance fee. We sent 100% of this to the NRA.

Greetings! My responses at *****SEAN: below:

1-ANY STYLE,ANY CALIBER OF HANDGUN

*****SEAN: OK, this is clear enough

RESTS
1 or 2 piece allowed.
Store bought or Home Made Allowed.
Bipods Allowed ON ALL GUNS
NO VISE GRIP TYPE.
NOTE: SAND BAGS MAY BE USED. MAXIMUM OF 10 BAGS.
WIND FLAGS AND MIRAGE BOARDS ARE ALLOWED IN ALL SHOOTS.
TARGETS WILL BE MEASURED FOR SMALLEST 5 SHOT GROUP AT TWO DISTANCES.

*****SEAN: Again, clear enough (love the 10 bags rule: I'm with Mark, are we expecting return fire? [Big Grin] )

100YARD AND 200 YARD
NOTE; SCORES/WINNER WILL BE THE SMALLEST GROUP AT THE GIVEN RANGE.

*****SEAN: OK, this is where I am not so clear: I was intending upon using my 22lr match pistol for this shoot: Does this above mean that there are two separate matches, one at 100 and one at 200 yards? If so, I can still use the 22 lr Match to compete: if this is instead a combined score shoot, I'll use the Bellm/VVCG 223, but I need to know which it is.

Also, what date do we want to set for a deadline to turn targets in to, and who is going to be the target judge?

And finally, are these to be three or five shot groups?

Sounds like fun!

I know making too many classes will make it too complicated, but on the other hand, I think perhaps those that shoot the big game hunting oriented rounds may be intimidated about competing against those shooting the varmint rounds.

Possibilities for some additional groupings would be by barrel length 10-11" for the shorty folks, and 14-15" for the long tubed folks. Perhaps rimfire, small medium and large bore, and maybe a cast bullet catagory.

Anyhow, I'd like to give it go.
