I did not get to post this the other day (slipped my mind). Anyway, this is a 7mm, 140 grain Accubond that I recovered with your testing method. The impact velocity was app. 2205 fps. It expanded to .526 and weighed 121.0 grains -- not too shabby! Anyway, I thought you might be interested. Bobby, Thanks very much for posting your picture. It really isn't my method. I read about the water jug bullet testing method somewhere but I don't remember where the information came from. Welcome to senior life style, for me at least, anyway. That looks to be outstanding performance to me; now I can see why the 708 is such a popular round with a lot of hunters. I am sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this. I just now noticed your post. Thanks again...Rusty. | |||

Yes, the 7mm-08 is a terrific round & is very popular in certain circles. But in my neck of the woods, mention "7-08" and you get some blank looks. I just don't understand why it isn't more popular around here. The bullet in the photo actually came from a 20" Contender barrel in 7mm Bullberry. The MV was 2480 fps; impact velocity was around 2205 fps. The bullet will open to around 1750 fps, but I haven't tried it at any lower velocities just yet.
