I'm sorry to disagree guys, I think that Big bore only starts at 35 on up. I have a few other barrels that perform well & I like. Just wouldn't list anything below 35 for that question. [Wink]

Rich.. you've seen the image before. While it's not a single shot, it does speak to medium and large bore.

Thanks for the pic. That is pretty much what I was trying to say. I just don't consider 30 calibers & lower in the same catagory. There is a Big difference.

Most of what I shot is what some would call medium bore. At the present time my favorite rig is a custom XP-100 in 308 in. 15" Bull Hart stainless barrel,no brake installed real nose heavy with Hart barrel. Also can be a hand full with the heavy wT. bullets. Next real cannon I have is a Contender with a 14" factory barrel and brake.Gets everyone attention when I Light off a round, also more punishing than the XP. next is a new EABCO barrel in 6.5 BR on a Encore, this one is a real pussycat and looks as if it will replace my XP as the most accurate single shooter I have, other than a Contender with a 14" .222 rem Ingram barrel which most definitly is not big bore but sure is fun!

Cas,

Nice pic [Smile] Have any side shots of that 500, and also what molds are you using to cast the really heavy bullets for it?

I've always been fascinated with the Linebaugh, though I've never had one. I love big bore revolvers: Just picked up a S&W 625 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt and plan upon using Cor-Bon's 335 grn Hard Cast FP [Big Grin]

Have any suitable loads for a 625 S&W 45 colt that you want to share?

I had two .458 Contender barrels to add to the blue batch still accumulating, and the throats in both warm my heart. The second barrel, btw, is a 16 1/2" barrel with no brake as yet. Can be had at a very nice price sans brake.

What is the good price on the 16 1/2" 45/70? You can e-mail me at cookie8@citynet.net

.45 Colt, .45/.410 and .357 Maximum. I hesitate to call the .357 a "big bore", but I load Hornady 180 grain .358 35 Rem spire points in it!

I'm recently converted to the "big hole" theory. Next step, learning how to cast. The shipping on 300 grain bullets is whopping!

The 38-55 was the father of the 30-30. It was based on nothing. As a matter of fact, the son killed the father.

I have a 1990 built (single shot) Remington XP100 in 7mm BR that I tryly love. As you can see in my signature, My two favorite cartridges are the .416 Rigby, and the .35 Whelen. YOU HAVE BOTH, in SSK Encores. Please, give me a comparison on both, as far as accuracy, and recoil, and which do you favor. You have me wanting an Encore now! Cool

Can you please email me some PICS!!! clap

Mike,
Any idea why TC uses their current method of throating. I'm no gunsmith, but I just can't see why they don't use a reamer with a proper throat. They have to have reamers made, so why not use one with a throat, instead of the atrocity they try to pass off as a throat. I have heard of so many off center throats and such lately, it's unbelievable!
Thanks,
melvin
