Jules, 21 gr of H-110 has been scary accurate with a 390 gr LBT LFN, 400 gr Lee, and a custom 400 gr LFN gc from mountain molds out of my 480. In a 12" fixed breach tube, 21 gr should be doing 1350 +/-. I'm a huge fan of the 480, I figure any critter that can't be dropped with a 400 gr .475" slug @1200 fps needs much more then any handgun I'd be willing to tote. I've yet to load a single jacketed bullet in the 480, the cast just work so good. I've tried nearly a dozen different cast bullets, and all were capable of steller accuracy, from 310 gr up to 460 gr. Speaking of the 460's, assuming a 150 fps gain for the 12" fixed breach, you should be able to get 1200 fps w/ 19 gr H-110. Send me a PM if you might want to try a few out.

The recoil from the 460's really isn't that much more then the 400's. The beauty of the 480 is it doesn't burn that much powder, so recoil isn't as bad as you might expect. To me it feels like a big 44 mag. I've fired 454's, 475's and 500's, and don't care for the cases burning upwards of 30 gr of H-110, the recoil is greatly enhanced over that of the 480, but they really don't produce that much more velocity.

460gr bullets Thanks for the offer Paul. I'm gonna shoot it a bit and see how it does with the bullets I have. 1200fps with a 460 WOW!
