1) Will a Rem 700 barrel fit my XP-100R?

2) Any synthetic (with aluminum bedding block) rear grip XP stocks that will fit my XP-100R?

TIA

Mike,
Didn't want to make you think I was ignoring this question since it dealt with XP's. But when it comes to "R" version I'm pretty ignorant. The man who will likely know if no one here does would be my smith, Greg Tannel (970)353-6176. Remington should be able to answer this question for you also.
VV will make a custom wood (or laminated) stock for you that is pillar bedded to your design dimensions.

My gunsmith told me the other day when I was in there talking about my new project."that all Remington bolt actions where the same thread size".The XP-100R is on a Model 7 action.I think it will work but not for sure. What are you trying to do? Wade

Forgot about the other question.

I have a XP-100R in 350 REM MAG.That shoots great.I have shot 1 1/3" groups at 200yds not the norm but the best it haas ever done with a 4x Leupold on.Is there a promlem with your stock?I think you can get a alum. bedding block and stock from McMillian.I had to float my barrel some more after I got than what it was from the factory.

I am thinkin about having a "take off" 22-250 barrel installed on my XP, chopped to 16". The gun is a good shooter but i want a heavier barrel.

The stock is so narrow in the forend that i am afraid that i will have to replace it in order for this to work. If so, i would like to have the aluminum bedding block....

I guess what i am trying to do here is complicate my life a little more than it already is. [Confused]

Mike,

HS Precision used to make a Kevlar synthetic stock for the XP 100 mid grip, but I doubt that they ever did such for the "R" varient. For this, you are probably better served by looking for a good laminate [thumbhole if you are thinking clearly [Big Grin] ] with the bedding blocks.

If you have trouble finding such a creature, get a bedding block out of an HS Precision Model 7 stock and modify it or have it modified to fit the "R" XP, then have a laminate stock made to fit.

If the bedding block is not the ultimate concern, a company called Western Gunstock is your best source of thumbhole and standardc XP 100 grips, though I do not know if he has ever made any for the "R" version.

George Peterson
Western Gunstock Mfg, Co.

Aptos, CA 95003

These stocks are all sold semi-finished, and he is the maker of the thumbhole Contender grips I use, and is the provider for EABCO and was the providor for Foxridge Outfitters when they used to sell them. If you buy from him direct, you can get them in laminate in addition to various grades of Walnut, again semi-finished.

The barrel: So far as I know, the barrel you mention SHOULD fit, but I would check this against the knowledge of a competant rifle-smith who works on Remington alot.

If cost is not a significant factor, you can find no better a smith to do this work than Kenny Jarrett of Jarrett rifles. Kenny follows many of the same chambering principles as Mike Bellm, + he works on bolt guns A LOT!

Jarrett Rifles

Hope this helps!

Is the xp-r action also a model 7? If so does Brownell have an alluminum bedding block? Just a thought. mvm

I had a 35 REM XP-100R built into a switch barrel and a model seven 17REM, I have 17MKIV 18", out of 17REM take off, 17 REM 24" 221,223 22-250, 243,7-08 and 308 all 700 or 7 barrels Have only had to send 2 out to be headspaced gun is tons of fun can switch from pistol stock to rifle stock, depending on barrel length had to cut rt side of stock down even with ejection notch so I can remove bull barrel without taking gun out of stock can just change barrel while still in rest.
