The gun, new SS encore pistol in 7-08. Never fired before today. Uning Factory loaded Hornady 139s. We did check to make sure I hade the correct ammo for the barrel. The problem, first showed its head as high presure. The primers were noticably flatned. It had flowed to fill all space between the case and the primer. I took the gun to the gunsmith at the range (not were I bought the gun). He miced a fired case and found it to be 0.010in large about 1/4in up from the head at the ejector claw. The case was oval and would only go back smoothly the way it came out. A new case had noticable and excesive movement, easily 0.010in. The smith checked the head space, it also was 'terrible'. Tomorrow I will take it back to the original place of purchase for a new barrel. Is the 20 round, I learn slow, of high pressure firing enough to damage the reciever? If so would there be signs? Should I request a new reciever? | ||
