IMR4198 or H-322 in a .444 Marlin Contender ?

I have a 14" .444 Marlin in the Contender anyone know what powder would give me a good burn?I tried some IMR4064 and it didn't burn all the powder.OH ya Im using a 240gr XTP bullet.

In a conversation with JD Jones, he said that 4198 was "the" powder for the triple-four. You are welcome to take that for whatever it is worth. Frankly it seems to be the optimum for velocity from the information that I've seen.

4064 is too slow for the Marlin. More suitable powders include but are not limited to, the 4198's (my favorites) H322, 335, AA2200 (if you can find a can), R7, AA2015, VVN130, AA2230, etc. Perhaps with the addition of the 4895's with the heavier (300gr.) bullets. I've even seen loads listed with IMR4227 with the lighter bullet weights.

Stay with the faster rifle powders in this large bore straight sided case and you should do well.
