Could someone point me to Ed's TC's. I can't seem to find his web site. Also, does anyone have any favorable experience with the 15" 209 X 50 Encore barrel? I have experience with it but not favorable. If you have had good results with the BP barrel, please share with me your load and the results that you are getting. BTW, for anyone interested...I ordered a brand new set of dies for my 30-30 barrel. I thought that the problem was in the dies crushing my cases (See "New 30-30 Win Barrel" thread for those not familiar) but the new dies crushed the cases too, even with boat tail bullets. I just started chamfering the mouths of the cases and I have had no problems with the old or new dies. I've never had to do that before, but Oh well at least it's working now!!! Thanks, X

My hunting buddy had a TC custom shop encore 209x50 pistol barrel and he had multiple problems with it, and honestly he didn't like it and told the folks at TC about all his issues, they said send it back and they'd look at it. They sent him a brand new barrel, but he still wasn't happy and let them know about it. They asked him what he wanted to make him happy, he told them a 308 barrel would make him happy and they sent it to him in exchange for the 50 barrel. Even though he didn't like the barrel, he was thrilled by the service. His 308 barrel is a tack driver and he is thrilled with it. \ regards, Graycg

Thanks gray. I previously owned a 209 X 50 pistol barrel also. I couldn't even get decent hunting accuracy with it. I could not reliably hit an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper at 100 yards with it on a rest. Factor in all of the variables of a shot in a hunting situation and it would have been even worse so I sold that barrel. Over at Graybeard Outdoors, there was a guy saying that he was getting his best groups with round balls. That's one combination that I never even tried with the barrel. I honestly never even thought of it since the Encore barrels have the 1:28 twist. Most roundball shooting rifles have a slow twist of 1:60 or 1:66 such as my Lyman GPR, which by the way shoots roundballs great. I hate to buy another barrel just to try it and see!! The reason that I would like to have a BP pistol is that here in GA a legal "small game" weapon includes "any" muzzleloading firearm, scoped or unscoped, and rimfire rifles and handguns. You can legally hunt hogs during small game season with a small game weapon. So in order to hunt hogs with a handgun I would have to use a BP pistol or a rimfire pistol. I would rather use the BP of course, provided that it was accurate enough to be trusted. Any one else had any luck with the Encore BP pistol? X
