GENTLEMEN, I HAVE READ ARTICLES ON THE SAVAGE STRIKER.LOOKED AT SAVAGES WEBSITE AND NOTICED THAT THESE GUYS ARE OFFERING THE NEW CHAMBERINGS OF .270WSM &7WSM ALONG WITH THE 300WSM.DO ANY OF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH 300WSM? I THOUGHT THE 22RF,.223&7-08 WOULD BE NEAT. ANY THOUGHTS ON THE STRIKERS?

The Strikers are usually quite accurate. trigger pull can be heavy by my standards, but a trigger job or an aftermarket trigger by Basix will make things much better. The WSM cases work well in specialty handguns that have the action strength and enough barrel length to do the job. The Striker action is definitely strong enough. I would want at least 14 inches of actual barrel (before brake) and more likely 15-16 to help utilize case capacity. This is where in my opinion that Savage made a mistake in bringing the 300 WSM out with only 12 inches of barrel + 2 more inches of brake all together 14 inches. I haven't kept up with what Savage is doing now as far as barrel lengths with these cases, but you would be better off with a 14 inch non-braked 308 Win. than a 12 inch 300WSM for the difference you would get. I don't currently own a Striker or a WSM case but I do have an XP-100 in 7.82 Patriot (A shortened and necked down 416 Rigby case-30 caliber, 3001 f.p.s MV with a 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip) that I am still learning what kind of diet it likes. xphunter
