Should be at least two groups... pistol scopes and rifle scopes.

Mike,

It is a Leapers Chinese Airgun close-focus 6xAO rifle-scope. [shameless plug - I sell these for $75.00 BTW [Big Grin] ]

I love this scope as it can literally focus as close as 5yards to as far as infinity, with no paralax, and has the guts to withstand relatively high recoil (though I only personally use it on rimfires). It is very clear.

I purchased it for my close range [75yards and under] varmint scope, as I like to set up in a concealed position [usually parked along a fence-line in my jeep shooting from my Millett window-rest] with this pistol on a rest and snipe field and water voles, field rats, starlings, and other minor rodentia or winged vermin [Big Grin]

Cas,

I'd agree with you, but with our limited pool of shooters, we'd have say, 2 guys shooting one type match, 1 guy in another, and maybe 5 in another....

I suggest that given our small pool of shooters, the limitations be set by caliber (22lr for the 50 yard) scope *magnification* whether pistol or rifle scope, handgun length barrels (15" and under?) and by distance, anything else goes [Big Grin]

One thing that would be interesting as well for another future shoot would be a 50 yard open-sights match [NOT the fly target for this one] any caliber and handgun barrel length goes, but only open sights [Eek!]

Apples shooting against oranges. How 'bout I shoot my Contender carbine, if I promise not to put the stock against my shoulder? Same same? [Smile]

Hey, put a grip on it and "come on down" [Big Grin]

Really, this comparison can suffer the fate of atomization - Is it fair for a guy who uses all Lee reloading equipement and manual powder scales [or just pre-measured 'dippers'?] to compete with the guy who uses Dillon and Redding and precision electronic scales? The guy who understands match reloading and case-prep techniques V/S the guy who just has some thrice fired factory stuff and is new to sizing cases? How about the guys who don't reload? A "factory ammo only" shoot? How about shoots based upon all the above AND one's years of experience as shooter?

Again, I'd agree with you regarding class delineations save that with our limited pool of shooters, we'd have say, 2 guys shooting one type match, 1 guy in another, and maybe 4 or 5 in another....

I still suggest that given our small pool of shooters, the limitations be set by caliber (22lr for the 50 yard) scope *magnification* whether pistol or rifle scope, handgun length barrels (15" and under?) and by distance, anything else goes, but if you want it to be "rifle scope" and "pistol scope" only qualifications too, hey, I'll go along if you and the rest want it that way, it is just that I am not aware of but one other fellow on here who sets up rifle-scopes to pistol barrels the way I do, and for me, the more in the shoot the merrier [Big Grin]

BTW, Anyone interested in a future shoot based upon a 50 yard open-sights match [NOT the fly target for this one] any caliber and handgun barrel length goes, but only open sights?

To quote Awa... "For the profesional who counts his hits, the target is only a miserable piece of paper which he shoots to bits." [Wink]

Mike
The classes of the match look fine to me. I don't have a 22lr barrel so I won't be able to compete in that one. The 200 yard target is doubtful with the scopes that I have on my barrels. I guess I could take one out & see if I could see the target at that distance. Maybe you could use a different target a little bigger at 200 Yards??? [Wink]

Why don't we just shoot at BINGO cards at 200 yards. Whomever comes up with the highest score wins!! [Big Grin]
