Encore factory barrel hanger bar?

Hey guys,
I've got a 250 Savage Encore factory barrel that shoots pretty good, but I just have a sneaking suspicion it would shoot better w/ a hanger bar setup like I use on all my Contender barrels. In addition, I'd like to be able to use my Bullberry Encore forend w/ the Savage barrel as I'm partial to using a sling carry and this forend has a swivel stud. The BB barrel uses a Contender type hanger bar. I called BB today, but they don't offer a ready made hanger bar for Encore factory barrels; I'd have to send the barrel in for a few wks and $35. Can't do that now as deer season is just starting. I thought I'd read that VVCG has such a hanger bar, but havent' been able to contact them by phone despite many calls. I realize they're going out of business, as well. Looked at their products on the Midway site, but didn't see any hanger bars.

Guess I could take a Pachmayr hanger bar for a Contender and adapt it to the Encore, but thought I'd first check w/ y'all as surely someone else has tried this before me...

Thanks for your help, Gary T.

Gary, contact Steve Stratton at: blksheep@infowest.com, and ask for the Encore hangar bar. Just check the channel width on your forearm, as he offers 5/16" and 3/8" width bars. You'll need to give him the type of barrel contour you have: bull, sporter, etc., and he can hook you up. I've just gotten 3 from him. He charged me 18.00 for each and ask for USPS shipping for 6.00. It's 8.00 for UPS!!!!

Hope this helps!!

Bullberry uses the same bar for the encore as they use on the contender. Steve has a different set up then Fred so I don't think the Bullberry forend will work with Steve's bar.

Hey guys, Thanks for the good info. Will contact Steve, nevertheless, even if his hanger bar's not an exact fit. Sounds as if I may end up doing a little minor handwork one way or another, either modifying a Pach hanger bar or modifying my BB forend. Gary T.
