Ok I have 2 14" 30 Herretts I am going to sell or rechamber one and sell one.

Should I buy the factory 30-30 AI from Midway or send off one of the 30 Herretts and get it rechambered by one of the for or five leading shops out there?

Factory barrel is 199 bucks right now . . . rechambers are about 75 bucks and shipping on top of what I already have in the barrels.

Opinions solicited

Not that there are any folks out there At Saeed's site about things TC

Gotta make up my mind soon as I am backing myself into a time crunch for a hunt the first weekend in December.

I can't say about the 30-30AI from Midway but I bought one of their 223AI and its a keeper. I'm very happy with it. The rest of my barrels are custom and this Midway Factory 223AI barrel is very good.

either option would probably be fine. i couldn't be happier with my 14" 30-30AI factory barrel. got it from ed's, but it was a midway special run also.

I'd guess that the time crunch is the biggest issue for you right now.

I don't have any experience with the 30-30 AI but if you decide to rechamber it could take some time. I've had a couple of rechambers done and SSK is probably the fastest turn around time (2 weeks for the last one I had) but all the folks that do rechambers could be loaded right now with work to get out by hunting season.

I've always had good luck with t/c barrels factory and fox ridge, I'd probably get the midway now and have time to work with it before the season

Good Luck

TCLouis:
Of the two 30 Herret barrels you have are either one of them one of the older six groove barrels? If you have a six groove barrel it will be a 14" twist. It is a very good choice for a rechamber. The newer eight groove barrels are 10" twist barrels. The 14" twist will give you lower pressures and higher velocities.
