"...a 200-300 yard tack driver..." That would be the 6BR....just what you have right now. With proper bullets, it will suffice for deer out to 200 yards or so and will handle varmints as far away as you care to shoot a handgun. Personally, I'd have Mike open up the neck to standard dimensions as neck-turning is a pain, and the tight chambers something not really necessary unless you are into serious competition. ANd, a .243 won't do much more than the 6BR anyway because the latter is more efficient in a 15" tube...

quote:Yes but I am also tired of having to pull the bullets out so far...as with most factory barrels it will shoot but the throat is oversize and loooong. I am thinking Mike couls make it a MUCH MORE accurate barrel with a rechamber??? Fireball

I would stay also stay with the 6BR. It might be a royal pain but maybe Mike could fix the throat,so that you could make the out of 308 basic and have a longer neck?? I have shot the Encore and the Striker in .243 and it didn't impress me any. Is this the same guy that said he didn't have any problem with TC's barrels a while back???

Is this the same guy that said he didn't have any problem with TC's barrels a while back??? [/QB][/QUOTE] Yup! sure is!! But I have plenty of .500-750 group barrels and really wanted this one to be more accurate. It does shoot good but I am looking for a little more Power and accuracy. Mike did a 357 Max for me a couple years ago and it will do better than I can shoot. I really see no reason why if Mike rechambers it to a 243 it won't be EXTREAMLY accurate. Who knows Maybe I might trade it for something else? Fireball

I had to throw that in there. Keep us up to speed on what Mike or any of the other guys recommend on a rechamber for the 6 BR. I know where one is that has had a gazillion rounds through it and is starting to fade quite a bit. It is a carbine heavy barrel, might give it some new life. What range are you getting these kind of groups? 100, 200, ?? Sounds pretty good to me. Jeff

quote:I am getting about .500 groups at 100 yards..I really expected better.I am usinf H322..as far as I have found with other 6Brs the only powders that really work good are H322 and V130....I have barrels..221.....223.....7-08 that do better! Maybe I should wait and try the V130 and get a floating forend.....Just spoiled by other barrels It only likes the 55-70 grain bullets...Think the twist is a little slow Fireball
