Somewhere I read (I thought on this post) about a kit that someone made to change barrels on Savage guns. It consisted of a barrel, barrel wrench and a wrench to fit the barrel nut on Savage guns and I assume it would fit the Striker also. It seems like it sold for a reasonable price. I was thinking of changing back ad forth. What would be the best caliber to change it to for deer hunting only. I hunt in the woods mostly but there are times when long shots present themself. Would one of the short magnums be a waste of powder. Does anyone have a 7mm short magnum in a pistol? Sorry for the long thread but thanks

pistoljess,
ive never seen a package deal but ive got the barrel vise, wrench, and action wrench that midway usa sales. the vise come with would blocks all ready to go and id recamend the lead shims. you dont need the action wrench but it helps a cresent wrench can do the same. the barrel nut is super tight from the factoury. the cheapest way to go for barrels would be to get there barrels that are ready to go and cut them down to leinght you want or find take off barrels. or you can go custoum deppending on what you wana spend. as far as a deer only cartrage i dont think theres a answer to that id only use the short mages if it didnt have a brake on it or its longer to start with. something in 260,7/08,ot 308 would be great. ive been looking at the 25/300 ackly imp. hope some of this helps some. jason
