Hey guys;

Well I have been busy around here.So I hope you are all doing good.Been trying to catch up on some of the post.

My gunsmith called last week and took my barrel off and ordered my new one and the barrel maker said that he wanted my old barrel so he could extend the shank enough for the longer case. And he said that once he gets the barrel back he will push it threw and get it done for me since it has been 7 months already.

Fiftydriver; I hope you read this I just ordered a 35 rem XP it should be in this week yet and I will shot it for a while. But will need to talk to you sometime about some things we have talked about.

Handcannon,

Good to hear from you. Where did you find the 35 Rem? I have an idea what you plan on doing with it but let me know anyway.

About the barrel on your XP in 300 RUM. I had my 338 WSM barrel cut with a 1.250" shank for a solid 3" and then straight taper to a muzzle diameter of 1.000". It is also fluted but really only for looks. The extra weight from the heavy barrel really helps this handgun sit still on the bipod when taking field shots.

Let me know your plans.

Also, a bit of good news, the editor from Very High Power(Fifty Caliber Shooters Association magazine) contacted me earlier in the week and asked me if I would test and write about a new 50 BMG rifle that is about to come onto the market.

I have written a few articles for VHP in the past couple years about match grade loading for the big 50 but this is my first chance to evaluate a rifle. I am very excited. Will fill you all in when I get the testing done and let you know how it shoots.

Good Shooting!!!

Howdy; I know that this is unsolicited, but I have a bit of experiance with the 35 Remington.
I have told Remington for several years that thier 35 Rem brass is crap; they finally checked it out and promtly quit manufacturing it(the two problems were soft, and thin necks and shoulders); this promoted excesive head space when the firing pin struck the primer!! The results were poor accuracy or misfires.
Winchester brass works perfectly(I haven't tried Federal--but since thier purchase by CCI I believe that thier quality has goon down hill)!
Now to powders(I tried just about all of them) and I found lower pressure signs w/higher velocities, and the best accuracy with Accurate Arms 2230!!! I use a max load(by the manual) and get one hole not larger than 3/8" at 50 yards; usually 3/4" at 100 yards three shots from a bag rest from my 12 T.C. Hunter barrel. Whoops I almost for got the last deer that I shot with it was 50 to 60 yards away I hit him through the heart he ran about 70 yards; the bullet was the 200 grain Remington round nose; the bullet opened up a 1" hole going in under the hide, and a 1 1/2" hole out the other side. His heart had about one third of it blown away.

Many Primers

fiftydriver&xphunter and anyone else

Emailed J.D. about doing a 50 XP or maybe doing my 375/284 XP that they already chromed and worked on the action into a 375RUM.Took the XP stock that I bought from Al on this web site to my gunsmith and he liked the thought of the alumn. bedding block so we are one step closer. On hereing about the guy that has the Encore in 300RUM with no brake, have been playing with the idea of no brake on my XP.Any thoughts on this.

fiftydriver;got my 35Rem xp it is center grip and unaltered for the time being a nice custom Fajen stock barrel and action both look great.I will try to email you later.

xphunter; so what project do you have going have I missed something here.So many ideas so little time.
