Sorry for the cross post, but I had planned to "load up" a supply for season this weekend. I had a chance to get my hands on a bunch of 223 Federal Gold Medal brass and thought I would be happy to get some brass that should be very consistent. The person who gave it to me said it was NOT a problem since the brass is so soft that most HP competitors did not want it anyway. Am I going to be disappointed with it as starting brass in the 6.5 and 7mm TCU? I have been using treated military brass with acceptable results, just though I might gain a bit with the "civilian" stuff. What are your thoughts? TCLouis, I myself can't say anything good about the Federal Gold Medal brass. Nothing but problems out of my 6 and 7 TCU's. Split necks shoulders, and have had the necks come clear off of some 7 TCU's. I have annealed , not annealed etc... Tried every trick I new and still no luck with this brass. I have had real good luck myself with LC brass, and WW. The Remington was so so. Has anyone tried Lapua 223 brass????? Kind of pricey but it is supposed to be top notch? Jeff BTW, if I recall Federal has quit making brass as a component so don't get to liking it to much.

I have used Lapua for 223AL and also for 7tcu and it is great. Long case life
