I have simple rule. If I think something is dumb idea I ought to buy one right then and there. Your's truly thought Leatherman tools were goofy, that the Stumpjumper mountain bike would never catch on, and the the Pachmayr Dominator was about the weirdest thing anyone ever did to a 1911. I've got a drawer full of Leatherman tools and a garage full of mountain bikes, but I'm still looking for a Dominator (or even a Springfield Armory SASS) top end for my 1911... Live and learn.

Having a custom scope base for it being made now for a Weaver 4X scope and should have it back Friday. The finish of the Dominator is a nice match to my Springfield Armory Mil Spec 1911A1 and, I was able to come up with a set of Pachmayr Signature Grips with matching rubber cover mainspring housing to finish off the completed package. 10 years ago cash was short and its nice that I've been able to buy two discontinued guns (NIB) I have wanted from Cliff's Gunsmithing.

I might have that book? Is that the one with loads for the Pachmayr Dominator? I think I have a fold out flyer too, that shows the parts, instructions etc. Not sure if I still have the sights, because I had a set when I picked up a 7 IHMSA NIB, which I regretfully had to sell. I do have a another that I'm considering selling, because of hard times. It was a .35 Rem, which I had reamed to .358 Win, but gunsmith later found the barrel to be badly pitted. Was going to rebore it to a .375-08, but his barrel maker was too far behind on work. Landed up having him put a 6mm barrel he had, to a length that can also be used with a buttstock. Had him chamber it in a 6mmBR. He also modified the bolt with an ejector, so the fired case ejects, and reload by just dropping it into the chamber. Not sure if I'm hanging on to it, because of hard times? dennis.madriaga@gmail.com

Finally got a scope rail made for my Dominator and had a Weaver 4X scope mounted with S&W rings. Then, it was off to the local indoor range to roughly sight it in. While to range is only 15 yards the Dominator punched one ragged hole! I thought I’d loaded up some hot loads (WW brass, WPL primer, 19.5gr 2400 powder, and topped it off with a WW 240 JHP bullet) That printed below point of aim, but the surprise came when I tried a box of Remington 180gr JSPs. These things really lit up the range, and printed 4†lower than my handloads. Best I can figure the my handloads are leaving the 14†barrel with a muzzle velocity of around 1400 to 1500 fps, while the Rem factory ammo is moving at around 1800 to 1900 fps. This week end I hope to make it to the Sam Gabriel Gun Club and try it out at 50 and 100 yards. I removed the hard plastic grips and mainspring housing that came with my SA Mil Spec 45 ACP and replaced them with Pachmayr wrap around grips and Decelerator mainsprings housing from Ebay, well worth the $20 they cost me.
