I need the neck od of factory 221 rounds. I'm ordering a 221 barrel and was wondering if a .250 neck would work without neck turning. My 223AI has a .250 neck and no problem. Thanks

Tommyn, I just measured one of my reloads and it measures .249 and a new out of the box case measures .245. I don't have any factory ammo! Sorry! Bob

Desired/planned = .250" neck less .224" (bullet) = .026" 2 = .013" neckwall thickness for a "fitted neck." You will find most brass is between .010" and .013" measured with a ballend mic. After that you would have to turn necks to fit your chamber. Basically, you will have a fitted neck w/ factory brass, which you already know but I would avoid such a scenario unless you're willing to be extra cautious with load levels. My XP has necks turned to .008" which is BR standard and I have no trouble. Necks last a long time, 15X plus.
