Here, think about this:

I have two 1911's -- both Springfield.

One is "Mil Spec" which is actually somewhat modified from Mil Spec. (It's tighter, lowered ejection port, beveled mag well, and I think there's a connector modification that the original didn't have.)

Current designs in the 1911 are going to the straight grip for the hammer spring. It's "trendy" marketing, and nostalgia driven.

Second Springfield 1911 is a "Sub Compact, Loaded" -- which is not at all like the military issue 1911.

Ahhhhhhh, my THIRD Springfield is an XD, 5" bbl, 45 ACP, 13 + 1 double stack, polymer frame. Same grip angle as the 1911. It's "single action" -- sort of . . .

And I hung a Glock GTL 21 laser off the rail.

As regards "Race Gun" and design -- You don't drive a "race car" on the street, if you want an analogy.

Well the 98 Mauser action has been around and been proven time and time again. So goes for the 1911 no matter what brand name is on the pistol, it simply does a great job up close under 25 yards. I love the Colts, Springfields, Kimbers, Para-Ordinane and STI as well. They are works of art in my eyes.

However, the GLOCK is a great tool and works for me as my weapon of choice for CCW carry. Nothing out their can be shot as easy or has as much knock down as the 10mm caliber in a Glock period.

It is sort of like a good left hook or right cross beats the hell out of all that marshal arts crap. Now of course I don't know beans from shinola about Boxing!
