Im thinking of buying the Benelli M-4 shotgun for home protection, any thoughts or suggestions

i just bought one at the beretta gallery in nyc - had it shipped to my FFL.

Does not have a pistol grip.

I took it to the range today - loaded some 20 year old remington 2 3/4 light target load

Cycled perfectly with light loads

Excellent fit feel and pointing

Sight are very good

This is going to be my home defense gun - i put up 6 clay targets spread over 20-30 feet on the plinking range. At 10-15 yards I shot them in under 5 seconds. Could never do that with a pistol or ar type rifle - i don't shoot that good.

I need to shoot a few hundred rounds to get comfortable. But after shooting under 15 rounds I am going to buy another one just in case Obama decides to ban it.

There was a recent article about the M-2 tactical used in the three gun matches .The shooter picked the M-2 over all the others including the M-4. I no longer have the article.
I'm still working with an old M-1 90 !
