I carry a Kahr PM45 daily and I love it. I find it easy to conceal, and very controlable even with 230 grain full house loads.

If you have'nt handled a Kahr before, they do have a long trigger pull, I got used to it pretty quick, some people don't care for it.

I hear alot of people complain about Kahr not being reliable. I have to wonder if they read the directions that came with the gun. Kahr wants you to clean the pistol and run a minimum of 200 rounds through it before you make it your carry gun. Some early FTF's and FTE's are normal out of the box until it breaks in.

I have not had an issue after many thousands of rounds with mine. Its a keeper.

A Kahr isn't for everyone. That said, I should add that my daily carry is a Kahr CM9. I went with the 9mm because I'm already loading for it, have thousands of cases, components, loaded rounds, etc. and didn't wish to engage a new caliber. Kahr autos impress me as being kinda like a high performance auto. Not a good choice for someone who just wants basic transportation, and doesn't want to have to do anything but get in a drive. If you're a shooter...and comfortable taking your handgun apart for cleaning and lube...The advantages of the Kahr will make it a good choice. For Non-shooters, I continue to recommend a snub-nose 38 revolver, or at worst..a Glock if they just have to have more rounds.

I had the PM40 and traded it for a PM9. I am much happier with the recoil level for second and third shots. For me the 40 in that gun was too much of a good thing.

I have the Kahr MK9 Elite (jeweled port area). It's 9mm, six round + 1, lock-up action (not blow-back) DAO, and about the size of a Colt Mustang.

Well made, excellent fit/finish. I do believe Kahr got 6 new patents for this design. Not particularly complicated, but then I don't feel the 1911 or Garand are complicated either.

NEVER had a mis-fire or fail to feed. EVER.

[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens. This appears to me the only substitute that can be devised for a standing army, and the best possible security against it, if it should exist.

I'd go with "good". I've owned mine for quite a few years. In hindsight, I think I would have been happier with the 9mm. The 40 is definitely "peppy" in recoil. I have had an issue with the top round in the 6x mag not feeding, but in spite of returning the gun to Kahr, I solved it by putting a Glaser saftey slug on top--there is never an issue with it feeding due to the round nose profile. Otherwise, all other rounds (JHP or FMJ) feed from the mags. I've even shot 175gr cast TCs. Bottom line, nice gun with a lot of horsepower.

I have had a Kahr K9 (all steel) since 1998 and am happy with the feel, reliability, followup shots. I'm considering a K40, but I don't think I'd be interested in a polymer 40 that light and small.

Not th gun you are inquiring about, but I have a Kahr CW45 that I like a lot. I have not had the problems others have reported with theirs.

With a little modification, the magazines for Officer-size 1911s will work in my CW45.

I've had two 9's, a PM9 and still have a CM9. Both 100% reliable.

I had two 40's. A PM40 and a CM40. Both were randomly unreliable, failing to feed. I doubt these were rare conditions in the CM/PM40's. I suspect there is a design problem with the mags where the top round hangs up and doesn't get picked up by the slide.

I've mostly heard good things about the 45's. As soon as the cheapy CM45 comes out I'll probably try one. Same mag capacity as the 40 so why bother with a 40?

My Kahrs have always shot exceptionally well; probably due to their great trigger. And they're smaller and lighter than anything else. In the meantime I'll just blaze away with an XDs in each hand. Smiler
