Good topic. I don't know how I'd respond in a situation where a shooter - rifle or pistol - was threatening others, but I'd pray that I not shrink from the threat. About three years ago in Omaha there was a punk 20 something who held up a Walgreens (iirr) with a sawed-off 12 ga. As said robber was pointing the shotgun at the cashier, a REGULAR CITIZEN licenced for concealed carry produced his weapon, shot & killed the armed robber. I don't know how many times he fired his pistol, but he killed the bad guy outright. There were other shoppers in the store, of course; yet none of them were hurt. The CC citizen displayed: competence; awareness; & restraint (he didn't empty his mag - I believe he fired 2 or 3 times). Police questioned the citizen & in a reasonable amount of time decided he was justified in the shooting. While this is a "best case" scenario of a responsible citizen carrying a concealed weapon, I'd like to think it would not be a rare scenario. If you're a concealed carry citizen, you need to be prepared for the legal ramifications of a justified shooting. It will not be "easy" or "quick" or "cheap." But if you prepare wisely & if your preparations show you are not interested in "vigilante justice", then I believe you can carry a weapon in good conscience. As Xero wrote:
This seems like a reasonable consideration. You carry not because you hope to find yourself in a bad situation, but are perpared for it if you do. friar Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain.

Says it all! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;
