Here is news my fellow Nevaadans will like.

According to NRA-ILA, the BATFE has issued the letter exempting Nevada CCW permittees from the background check when purchasing firearms as long as the permit was issued on or after July 1, 2011 (the date AB282 went into effect).

See BATFE letter .

Same with Texas, If you have a Texas CHL the Dealer does not have to call in for the instant check.

Nevada uses its own version of NICS; FFL dealers must charge $25 to use it (this fee is passed onto the customer at time of sale).

Now, CCW holders do not have to pay this fee; however, the rest of Nevadans do.

...and as a Texas Peace Officer, who does not have a CHL, I still have to go through the background check...go figure.
I know, I really need to get a CHL too!

Also here in Texas the "castle doctrine " was instated so one does not need the CCL to carry in your vehicle (same as your home). It will not help you on filling out your 4473. That being said;it would still be most prudent to have your CCL anyway because there are WAY TOO MANY cops who don't know the law.I speak from personal experience while holding a CCL. In a seperate instance my son was cuffed + put into the squad car before the cop found out that he was legal.

In Idaho, if you have a CWL they do not have to phone in either.

I believe they tried to do this here in Colorado but it was killed. A real PITA, had to wait over an hour the other day for the check.

In Florida, no call-in is required for CCW holders, but most shops do out of paranoia. I have told them to call in if they like, but I'm not paying for it and if they don't like it they can keep their gun.

The more, the merrier.

As long as folks don't bring their East Coast/West Coast liberal mentality here and they are pro-2A, they are welcome.

Be careful what you wish for, we're getting libs moving into northern Nv by the bus loads. BTW, the mines are hiring.

What is a "National" CCW permit and how does one obtain one?

In Michigan CPL your good to go, no background check.
Except a a few gun shops that say it's company policy to do a NICS check.
