Hello AR friends, After doing a bit of searching through the archives, I need to ask for some help & advise on choosing a biometric gun safe for my home. I wasn't sure which forum to post to, so chose this one. My most important considerations are 1. Keeping my two young kids out of the safe; and 2. Having quick, consistently reliable biometric function for my wife. The primary intent of the safe will be to provide fool-proof access to a handgun (probably a small frame hammerless double-action revolver) at home. It needs to open the first time, every time, under stressful circumstances. There's a lot of stuff floating around on the greater internet, and I'm concerned about sorting the wheat from the chaff. Many thanks & God bless, p.s. I already have a full-size safe bolted to the floor Our liberties we prize, and our rights we will maintain.

I was in the same dilemma as you. After research I bought the Fort Knox safe with the Simplex lock. If you search on youtube or their website, you'll find more details. I did not want a battery powered lock and if you happen to hit the combination wrong at night or under duress from you or the wife it will lock you out and render you unarmed! Ft. Knox are built like tanks. Very thick steel with different sizes and dimensions. Just be aware they are not fire safes. In fact I bought a second unit for my vehicle and bolted it on. No one is going to be able to smash and grab. Some of the models out there have a small metal cable that you can attach to your vehicle. They can be cut with a bolt cutter/pliers or battery operated saws all very easily, and I do not recommend them. Same for the house make sure you bolt it into studs in a precarious position making it hard to pry out.
