Well, the (civilized) world will end on May 21. The good will be "raptured" but I suspect that I will be one of the many "left behind" to face the forces of evil. The question is how much ammo (and how many mags will I need? I figure that a single 10mm round should be good for at least 4 bad guys (standing one behind the other) so, that's 800 of 'em, but I am expecting thousands! I only have a dozen or so AR 15 mags. My wife will of course be one of those raptured so I won't have anyone to reload mags for me. I will have my trusty samurai sword, duly sharpened, for the "close in work". The AC556 is oiled and ready to do it's job.
The question is: should I let 'em get close and then "pile 'em up" or should I engage them at 600 yards?
What else do I need? I only have a few days left.
Peter.

Why do you figure May 21st?

And may 21st of what year, and what century?

Geez sniper, where have you been? I guess I have to save your behind from damnation. I don't figure, Harold Camping does. It is May 21 of THIS year, THIS century. Of course he did predict the end of the word a few years ago, but he says he had incomplete data. Don't come around wanting to "borrow" some of my ammo. It ain't going to happen, bro. This is the BIG ONE!
Peter.

The generally accepted strategy for hoard defense is to pick off the straglers and work your way forward. Start with the longest distance you feel comfortable shooting. This gives you more time to do your work.

Is this part of the same group that predicted the end of the world in 1844?

Wasn't the world also supposed to come to and end in 1988, 1996, 2000, and 2001?

If you did need some kind of massive crowd control, just shoot the leader, from a LONG ways. The rats will scatter, and no one will ever come close to your place.

Jeez, I hope not!

My trophies ship Swiss Air on the 18th. If F&F has them in the warehouse and I get raptured before they arrive here and I get to hang them I am going to be very cranky.

IS, I would STRONGLY recommend that, like me, you prepare for the worst!!!! Load up some ammo! I heard through the grapevine that you ain't on "the list"!
We can compare notes afterwards on the effectiveness of the 1911 vs. the Glock!
Peter.

I believe Antelope Sniper has it right. Shoot the leaders from a long way and the others will be in disarray. Most people are really sheeple...they just follow whomever will pretend to lead.

Peter, even if you are right, I'm still not worried.
None of the cops, lawyers, judges or politician in my area would be raptured anyway. I don't think the badguys would even notice.

Just shows you what different things guys hear from God. Radical Muslims hear they should convert everyone to Islam, by the sword if necessary, killing everyone who doesn't. (Sane Muslims know better. They get quite different messages about how to relate to their fellow humans from their Korans (anglicized spelling).

Me, personally when I talk to God (some days more than once, particularly if I am trying to repair a cranky split in a stock), he seems to tell ME that humans still haven't learned their lessons about decent behavior that he laid out at least 6,000 years ago.

Until then the Great Architect is going to keep the world pretty much the way it is, setting examples of what evil does, until they see the light (learn).

So, we'll see who is more perceptive, me and at least 5 Billion others or the crackpot who is predicting the end of the world on the 21st...talk to you again on the 22nd....

BTW, I appreciate your motive. I just don't need saving by some guy who tells you I do because God tells him the world is about to end this month.

Lord luv a duck!!!

Time spent loading ammo is never wasted. If Harold Camping is wrong, then just wait for the Mayan calendar ending.

We know for a fact Harold was wrong about 1994. I see no reason the results would be different this time. The Millerites made so many end of the world predictiion, and were wrong so many times it lead to the concept of the Imminent Second Coming, that could occur at any moment. Of all the predictions IMO it's the Jehova Witness prediction of the world comming to and end in 1914 that was the closest. Although the world did not come to an end, over the next 4 years much of civilization was shattered, many brave young men met their fate, and many old goverments were no more. Of course if you make enough preditions, something will happen at a time close to one of your predictions, so I'm sure alignment of the prediction and the events of 1914-1918 had more to do with chance, then a divine hand.

Sam the answer is 6pm local time. p dog is a little premature. However we do know that no one in New Zealand was good enough to be raptured (at least there have been no reports of significant numbers of people reported missing). So, stay locked and loaded until 6pm local time and then, MOW THE LAWN!
BTW there was never any doubt in MY mind that I would still be here, no matter what happened!
Peter.
