My Kimber is way too heavy and bulky for every day carry. So today Gander Mountain had these on sale for a very favorable price and I succumbed. Will this meet my needs for ease of carry and reliability? Thanks for any/all comments. Jerry Hoover

They are nice firearms the several I have shot worked well.

They would be in consideration along with the others of this size if I were looking for a small 9mm handgun.

Jerry, I have one in 9mm without a safety. I really like it. Feels good in the hand, carries well shoots great. It does have stiff springs and might be a bit hard for someone that has arthritis or a weaker grip. The extended 8 round magazines are much more comfortable for me to grip and shoot but the the shorter 7 round mag may fit your pocket better if that is your carry method.

I have two holsters for it that I like. The first is a Remora for IWB carry. The second is a Garrett Industries STX 2.0 for OWB carry.

I decided not to get a safety as I carry in a holster. However, you may want a safety if you carry in a pocket or your spouse might in a purse etc. Personally, I feel the small safety is a bit too far back on the smaller frame and
thus is a bit awkward to engage. However, your comfort and shooting style may be different.

Google the Shield. I did and was impressed on the number of unbiased positive articles. It helped me decide to get one.

Good luck.

Jerry, have you shot your S&W Shield yet? I would be interested in your feedback. I saw the same ad. from Gander but was out of town. I would be interested in any comparisons with the Glock 43.

I have a Remora holster for my Shield that I really like for IWB and it will also work for pocket carry too. I have the partial sweat shield version as it allows a good grip when drawing from the IWB position. If you were going to use this for pocket carry only, I would suggest not having the sweat shield as it might get in the way of your thumb when drawing from a pocket. www.remoraholsterstore.com I have only used the original ones without belt attachments so I can't comment on their other products. It's amazing how these holsters grip your clothes and don't budge when properly inserted and buckled in. My Shield disappears under a tee shirt plus it's easy to remove the rig if you need to go into a place that doesn't allow CCW carry.

For OWB carry I really like the Garrett Industries STX 2.0 holster. Leather lined kydex that rides high and close. It is extremely well made and the cant is adjustable.

Both manufacturers have excellent customer service and products. I have 4 GI holsters and 2 mag holders. I have 2 Remora holsters and 2 mag carriers. I have a Remora for my S&W 642 for pocket carry that keeps the handle upright for a perfect grip.

Between Remora and Garrett, I am done buying holsters. We all seem to fill a box with holsters before finding the ones that work for us. Everyone is different but these two makers are getting my business from now on.

Just my thoughts. Good luck.
