Every gun show that I've ever been to makes you present all firearms before entering and locks them open with a zip tie or something. It's a good general safety rule as there are generally quite a few moron lookin folks about. Ask a gun shop owner how he feels about folks carrying loaded guns in his shop. I'll bet you're gonna hear a story about an Accidental Discharge right quick.

Not so much a “want to” just a curiosity question. I have a CCL and carry where ever I go that it is legal. I always leave it in the car at gun shows, just because. I have never seen it spelled out one way or the other.
Back to the want to question, why would I want to carry anywhere? Personal protection.
...cause I don't want to leave it in the vehicle to be stolen by some turd!
When I go to the George R. Brown shows in Houston, I either park very close or very far a walk. Not taking any chances I don't have to.

What they trying to avoid is some jack off letting people handle a loaded weapon or him trying mags, holsters, etc, with a loaded weapon. Technically they can not ask you for your loaded weapon and legally you can not divulge if you have one. If you are not planning on pulling it out I would not worry about it.

I suspect this may vary from state to state as do many concealed carry laws. As I read Minnesota CCL I think the show would have to post the appropriate "Guns are banned" signs at the entrance as I don't think there is any blanket rule as exists for schools, courts etc.

Thanks for the replies, there is a show coming here in a couple of weeks. I will pay attention how it is posted. I would think a gun show would be the last place you would need to carry, but then again it could quickly become a place you need one BAD! Deep thoughts from jack handy
The last show I went to in TN made you present the gun and your unloaded magazine. So I took the mag out of the gun stripped all the bullets out of that and cleared the chamber, they never even noticed the fully loaded mag on my belt.

It's a good rule. It keeps idiots from shooting themselves. I still carry into gun shows, as do many, but the gun stays hidden.
If people were trying to show off their carry weapon, and loading/unloading it, sooner or later someone will get hurt. I'm not an anti-gunner or the type to have an unloaded gun around, my weapons are always loaded and close at hand. I'm simply realistic about the people who attend gun shows.
