| The Corbon well give some where around 10 to 12 inches of penetration so it might not exit depending on the angle.
Must not have double lunged it, Or it would have died sooner. |

| I hope the incident turns out well for you. I assume you were in a town or city setting? If out in the country, a different situation entirely. I shot a threatening dog a few years ago while on a country walk (for PT) and called the county sheriff- the dispatcher said she'd record it and for me to leave it where it fell.... It had a collar and the owner lived a few sections down the dirt road.... Never heard back from either the SD or the owner.
I used a 40 with HST 165s. The angry dog did not take another step- the bullet hit behind the head and down into the chest. He probably weighed in at 90lbs maybe. |

| Ammo designed to be used against humans have been developed to work with in a certain way.
If you could recover the bullet you most likely find it fully expanded.
But a gut shot is a gut shot. I saw a fellow shot side to side with a 30-30 through the guts he lived.
I once shot a 40lb yote to far back blew a 2 inch hole out the far side guts following. Had to track him down he was leaving guts the whole way.
Shot a yote at 32 yards with 125jhp at 950fps took him head on base of the neck broke his spine and shredded his lungs DRT.
Shot placement is still king. |

| As a rule of thumb in humans exiting through skin takes the same for e as four inches of muscle penetration. There is a reason why we so often recover bullets against skin on the far side of a game animal. |

| I'm glad you were armed. I wish my friend Morris had been carrying. http://www.scnow.com/living/ar...07-001a4bcf6878.htmlThe dogs belonged to his brother who lived next door. They knew him, but attacked anyway. His brother got the dogs off him before they killed him. They were put down last week. |

| Idiots who let their dogs (or cats) run loose should be shot and the poor animal given to someone who give a damn about their animals.
Where I live all free running dogs and cats (off their owners' property) are shot on sight. 100% legal.
That's why, long ago, there were "bicycle guns". I ride a bike a lot and always have my Chief's Special Airweight in my pocket. |

In New York State you get charged with a felony for shooting a free roaming dog. I like your state better. |

| too bad you couldn't get the other one, glad you are ok, i saw a pit bull last summer running around town without a collar, went home and got something to dispatch him with but never saw him again, don't know if it would be legal or not but don't really care if it saves my kid or the someone else from being mauled
good job and glad you are fine |

| For Greg ..... I spent most of my life in upstate NY and probably shot 1 feral cat for every 5 woodchucks. Insofar as killing free roaming feral dogs: If they are bothering your livestock .... bang, flop. Otherwise, first they have to catch you. Know a fellow who X ringed a Pit Bull in Albany in the city while walking his miniture Poodle that was attacked. 9mm Glock, CC permit, 4 shots, he called 911, cops took a "report" and left. Dead dog had no collar or tags but lots of scars..... wonder who owned it ????? Maybe a famous Quarterback ? |
