Hello Gents,

My latest tale of daring do. Now with more chest thumping, more outrageous claims and 50% more dressing up like special forces. Big Grin

On a serious note. If you are strapping on a pistol or revolver to defend you and yours you should be carrying a quality flashlight, of adequate power, to illuminate and identify potential threats under low light conditions. Friendly fire incidents can have tragic results.

I hope you enjoy the article. http://modernserviceweapons.com/?p=9239#more-9239

Nicely written and entertaining, Hizzie! Time to upgrade some old flashlights of mine.

Hizzie,

I don't need them. I can see in the dark. :-)

Seriously,

I enjoyed this article as well as your article on knives. I definitely need a light upgrade. Thanks.

Glad someone other than Whitworth bothered to read it. One of Gene's MDC flashlights and vehicle dome lights are on my shopping list.

Keep up the posts. It's a rough crowd around here. You don't impress me as a panzie who will shrink from a bit of controversy.

What are the best lights, in your opinion? Best or the Best; and Best Value. I'd like your opinion. Test results ...

My experience is limited to Surefire, Malkoff and Streamlight. SF is top notch with a great replacement parts program and good customer support. They are considered The Standard by many. Malkoff has a very good reputation. Malkoff failures are hard to find. I did however get a bad Clicky in one of the tailcaps I purchased. A quick email had my problem solved with a replacement tailcap and ZERO drama. I've had a Streamlight fail on me. I do like the rubber coated Scorpion series and the TLR weapon lights. While the TLR isn't as nice or durable as the SF X300 series I feel the way the switching operates is more intuitive and easier to use.

I have no experience with Torchlab/Oveready, Lenslight, Elzetta or Prometheus Lights but others I trust, with far more experience, recommend them.

I do not have "torch envy" but enjoy a good flashlight. I picked up a couple of Ultrafires with rechargeable 3600mAh 3.7v li-ion batteries and am pretty happy with them. My main complaint is with the controls! Most lights these days seem to have a single "push button at the end" control. When out walking my two dogs I find it very difficult to handle such a light and keep it "ready" to illuminate. Are there any with "dual controls" ie. a push button in the "old fashioned" place as well as the end?
I have the old Surefire, but find that it is not my "go to" light.
Peter.

Peter: Check out Nitecore. They have some lights I think you might like.

Hizzie, Internet won't let me respond to PM's at the moment. I'm not being rude.

LJS, thanks for the tip. I am looking at the P12 but have an inquiry in to make sure that the side switch is on/off and not just a mode change switch.
Thanks again, Peter.
