Not exactly CHL but this happened in my hometown. I haven't lived there in forever but I do know a cop there and he said that the gentleman was a little off on his estimate of the distance but he hit the perp and definately helped the first responding officer.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

I don't know what I'd do in a similar situation, but I do commend that gentleman for his timely assistance of the LEO. And, even though he might have been off on his distance estimation, it sounds like he did some pretty darned good shooting!

how much is a "little off" on the distance?

a 65 yard shot with a handgun is a good poke, 165 is a long ways.....

good for this gentleman, I hope he does not lose any sleep over what he did.

Low tech,
I'm not sure, he didn't tell me the exact distance, just that it was nowhere near 165yds.

Everything else in the story was accurate though and my friend that is a cop said he may have either thought it was further than it was or simply not be able to judge distance well. I don't think the guy is "lying", I think his is just mistaken.

Whether it was 20 yards, 150 feet, 65 yards, or what ever....the man was cool in a tight spot. To put hits on a target with a handgun while getting shot at with a rifle requires maintaining presence of mind.

One of those type of men that you'd want to share a foxhole with.

Bet he doesn't have to buy many beers for awhile, nor will he be getting any speeding tickets.
