Problem with mag release

I've been carrying a Springfield EMP in an IWB holster left handed. On two occasions I have noticed my magazine has been released while the gun is still in the holster. This has been while carrying most of the day, in and out of the truck etc.

What is the cure for this? A stiffer spring for the mag release may cause some issues as I shoot lefty and release the mag with my index finger, not my thumb.

The holster is an El Paso Saddlery Summer Cruiser.

I would try and duplicate it and see what is really happening once that is found the cure can be made.

One might just have to change the position it is carried just bit or cut some of the holster away.

I would remove the mag release ,check for burrs etc and correct any problems.
Then check with full mag [empty chamber]where and how the release touches the holster. Cutting the holster if the two are touching.

As a fellow left handed person, I too had inadvertent mag releases while carrying concealed. I found that the holster must cover the mag release button, and preferably be a hard material.

I switched from an Andrews McAndrewsII IWB to a Blackhawk SERPA and no longer have the problem.

Really telling when one draws his 1911 (or any other handgun) and the mag falls into the dirt on the el president stage... even worse if it was a real threat situation!

That is my concern as well, turning my gun into a single shot, if the mag drops out when drawing. I really like the comfort of this holster for all day carry and for the extra concealment. I have another holster to use, but it is not an IWB model.

Thanks all for the responses so far.

Anyone have experience with a Crossbreed Super Tuck holster?
