Anyone tried both? Own both. Which do you carry more?
Thanks, Peter

Walther's ppq has better trigger, grip, ambidextrous controls, overall ergonomics etc... but it is a full size gun. The Glock 43 is a recent addition but in a compact baggage it would not be a fair comparison. A Walther PPS is more like it.

Thanks mlf. I thought that the 4" gun was meant to be a concealed carry gun, however it is a double stack and that is what I was really asking, I guess. I regard the 5" as a full size gun. I will check out the PPS though!

The 42 has some bugs to be worked out. I traded it off after a while.

I have a 43 and it functions perfectly. Be aware that if you are looking at double stack, it is not. It is single stack with 6 rounds. I have the Veridian light on it with their holster. I am waiting for the IWB holster for it right now.

Just personal opinion, with the size of 9mm semi auto pistols being produced today, there is zero advantage in a .380 over 9mm.
Which ever one you choose, put an after market XS 24/7 big dot sights on it for about $120. Money well invested, it is on all my defense pistols. Use quality ammo and IWB holster and practice till the cows come home.

If you are comfortable with a 4" barrel. The PPQ is the superior choice. Get a Brigade Leather IWB holster M11 it goes a long way in comfort.

That's what I was really asking: how much difference between a single stack (G43) and a double stack PPQ in terms of concealability, weight and comfort.

Peter, I think that would be more of a personal thing. For ME, I do not have a PPQ, but do have a Glock 19. The difference to me is night and day. While I know a lot of people conceal and carry the 19 successfully, as my wife does, it was just too big for my wants. I went from the 19 to a J-frame to the Astra A70 (which I like very much) to the 43. All are acceptable, but the 43 just "feels" better to me. Weight was not the issue, but the comfort was. The 4" barrel just seemed to "poke" me more than any of the others. If I am going to wear it all day, I want it to be comfortable. And the J-frame was fine, I just wanted one more round.

It is all desires and compromises.

larrys, it IS a personal choice, but unfortunately they don't let you "try and buy". My Summer choice is hands down, my Ruger LCR in 38 spl. Florida is shorts and T shirt weather for 8-9 months out of the year. Now that it is below 80 it is long sleeve shirt, long pants, light jacket weather which invites something more substantial.

That is why one needs to own dozens of hand guns and one of the joys of living in is country.

I have been carrying a hand gun 98 percent of my waking hours for close to 40 years.

Their is no perfect one for every occasion.

A Glock 23 has gotten the most use the last 15

But then a carried a S@W 3913 as a BUG for 23 years or so when I was working. Before that charter arms 2.5 inch 357 bulldog.

The more places that have come to recognized open carry as a legrimate means of carry.

The less and less I worry about the size of my hand guns the more I carry larger guns.

It looks like open carry is coming to FL. It already is if one is doing certain out door activities.
