Was in Carter's Sunday picking up a Lady Smith for my daughter and saw a S&W M&P, I think the trade name was the "Bodyguard". This is a very cute, incredibly light weight, enclosed hammer, alloy frame revolver in .38 +P, with a laser sight that shoots along the right side above the cylinder. Unusual mechanism for swinging the cylinder out -- Push button where the hammer would be.

Brand new. Under $500. What's wrong with it? Looking for opinions. Did I say it was cute?

Nothing "wrong" with it. 5 shots, my wife's says its a .38 Special +P. Her's is a different model, not the enclosed hammer Bodyguard, that may be a difference in the +P rating. The laser is convenient. She can see it without her glasses on, without glasses she cannot see the sights. I keep telling her if she doesn't carry it I will.

A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

I have been carrying one since they first came out. I use .380 Fed. HP ammo in it..It never fails to fire, it never jams, and its accurate enough for what I intend to use it for, and that's as a surprise when someone yells Jehad!!

The original S&W M&P was a 38 Special, came in 2, 4, AND 6 " barrel length, was on a K frame and had military sights...Most police depts. issued them in the 50s...This new one is stipulated by the name "Bodyguard", and its an automatic double action only and is the smallest of .380s or close..and thin/flat as a kids color book. Just a darn nice conceal carry pistol.

P dog,
Reread, I described both the auto in .380 and the revolver in 38 Special, both of which are labeled M&P ( Military and Police )..Sorry if I added to the confusion.

I presently have the .380 auto and its a great little pistol..
