I have always used Rem/Win/Fed 38 spl. 158 gr. LSWHP+P for my Airweight belly guns, it is historically, one of the most effective defensive loads for 38's. I carry extra ammo in the Bianchi Speed Strips as they fit unobtrusively in a side pocket. Recently, I missed removing one of the strips and it ended up going through the complete wash cycle in the old Maytag, which includes a 10 minute wash followed by a 6 minute rinse. After finding them in
the tub, I decided that throwing them in the dryer for the forty minute ride might be pushing my luck, so I put them aside with the intent of attempting to fire them on my next range trip, that was today, and to my surprise, five out of six fired with no apparent loss of power and smacked the steel plates down just like the unwashed ones! The fifth round was struck repeatedly and flat refused to ignite. These were Remingtons and the primer is sealed. All in all, I was fairly impressed as I expected all to be duds. This certainly was not a definitive test, but somewhat usefull nonetheless. I may start doing this with some other rounds occasionally, just for the hell of it, to see the results. I have fair confidence that the ammo will survive a dip in the pool and function. Just thought I'd share this info.

Lee,

Long ago I did exactly what you did, speedstrips and all. In my case they all fired. I believe they were Federal not that it might matter.

Excellent choice by the way. It's the old FBI load. I still use them by preference. tu2

I brought a double action only S@W 67 I had some 158gr Hornday 158gr lead HPs around I loaded them to 925fps.

I believe that they well do a good job if needed

The first Cly. full at 25 yards off hand went under 2 inches.

I loaded a couple of boxes struck it in a handy spot and called it good.
