Do to the number of church shootings I've heard of a few pastors who wanted to get a concealed carry license and get other members of their church licensed as well. To my understanding, you are not allowed to carry in church. BUT, a church can have written in it's by-laws, that a person or possibly a group can be appointed as "security" for the church. Personaly, I think it's a great idea. Does anyone have any solid facts about this? ________________________________________________ Never met a Colt I didn't like.

I am not aware of any federal law that prohibits a concealed weapon in church. I am not aware of a Florida law either (but I plan on checking!). Certainly the church could prohibit it. Peter. I don't remember a church being a no carry zone.

In Wy it is unlawful to carry in a church without written consent of the facility administrator. So, at least in Wy, just get a permission slip and all is well. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. They'll forgive you if you have to use it. Aren't most of the guys in Mosques packin'?

More and more churches are developing "security programs."

Church hell -- I have attorney associates who note that most attorneys and judges are packing heat in the courtroom. They're not required to go through "security" and even though firearms are disallowed in court the "officers of the court" (judges/attorneys) pretty much condone their being armed as a necessary and proper defense.

There is no prohibition in PA. While I have not carried during services, I drop the .38 in a pocket when I go there in the evening to work on something. One car there by it’s self tells everyone that you are there alone.

No law in Texas against it, unless the TX 30.06 law is posted. (Never seen one on a church.) I know my pastor doesn't mind. I don't carry in church, just because I don't feel the need. Now, not to upset any Texas siblings on here, but, if I were going to church in or near downtown Austin, that'd be another story.

Churches in Louisiana are considered off limits for concealed carry. Not all places have signs saying no firearms allowed. Resturants, for example. you can carry into the building, but you can't go into the bar area, or any bar, period. ________________________________________________ Never met a Colt I didn't like.

So then a bar in a church is a definite no, no. What if Wicka are holding ceremonies in the woods?

You are correct. And they can't prohibit what they are unaware of.

My preacher and a solid dozen members pack at every service (that I know of). An usher asked me if I was armed once and I gave him my standard answer: "Every day" . He smiled, shook my hand vigorously, and said "Thank you." ChetNC

Speaking of "bars" -- It's lawful in Oregon and Washington to carry your concealed firearm into places which serve alcohol. Not just restaurants, but even bars/taverns. It's just like driving a vehicle. You can drink and carry/drive. You'd just better not be drunk.

Missouri does not allow concealed carry in churches, but doing so is not a criminal act. I know of two churches where some of the members carry at the request of the pastor so it might be the "security clause" thing.

Personally, think it is a good idea. Family and friends in the Daingerfield incident, I was also supposed to be there, but had to be away. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chu_viol1.htm DuggaBoye-O NRA-Life Whittington-Life TSRA-Life DRSS DSC HSC SCI

In Washington you cannot carry a firearm into a bar. Rule of thumb, if you can't take your child you can't take your gun. You can be intoxicated and armed though.

I am a pastor... Currently without a church but not for long... Kansas has only had CC permits for 3-4 years... Haven't got mine yet but will asap. I want people to carry in the churches I pastor. The last church I was the pastor at was in Wyoming. I had a LOT visitors check out my church after they met me at the gun range. My wife and son will get their CCP as soon as they can too.

Here in Texas, it is legal to carry in church unless it is posted otherwise. Before anyone starts an organized "security team", I would suggest that you check with your church insurance provider. Our church had a "do gooder" Take it upon himself to go to our insurance carrier and ask a lot of questions on the subject, and he was told that they would drop us if we "advocated" carrying by members or formed an "organized security team". Personally, I am carrying every time I walk through the door, and I would change churches if I was ever told that I couldn't. To answer the question as to whether I feel safe at church, yes, I do feel safe but not safe enough to leave my gun at home or in the truck.

A year ago I was told that there was a pistol at the lost and found counter at church; someone must have gotten saved during service. I was tempted to claim it….hey this is NY! LOL

there was a piece in one of the gun mags i get i think a few years ago... the writer says he sits in the very last pew back in a corner so he could see the sactuary good.... like he stated everyone is usually faceing the speaker with their backs to the entry..... the flock will not be too aware of a goblin coming to do harm........ makes sense to me to carry in a church.... especially now.............

I prefer a greeter or two to carry and/or information booth people. They rotate so that no one has to miss too many services. Our church watches the parking lot during service as well. We trust the Lord to protect us through us. Aaron

Concealed weapons are not allowed in any church or temple in Kansas, so I don't, but then I don't feel the need. Larry "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson
