Has anyone here had any experience shooting Critical Defense ammo though a S&W M&P .40? I have heard that because of the rubbery tip they have they sometimes have feeding issues with some guns. Someone gave me a box but I don't want to use it for defense ammo if I can't trust it in my gun.

Recommend you run a couple of hundred rounds through the weapon. If you experience no malfunctions, you're good to go.

I know to run a few boxes of rounds through the gun but I don't want to spend all that money just to find that it really does jam. So hopefully someone here can help me with a little learned info. Smiler

It's like shooting a hundred and fifty bucks worth of ammo through a P380 before I finally gave up on it failing to feed.

Search the internet for reports of it being a jam-o-matic.

Since each gun (and magazine) is an individual sample, other people cannot authoritatively state that this ammunition or any other will work or not feed, fire, and eject reliably in your gun.

I recommend you break in your pistol with a couple of hundred rounds of FMJ, then start testing individual SD ammunition.

I have put over 500 rds through it so far and I currently use Double Tap 135 gr for my defensive loads as I have fired enough through them to feel comfortable using them in my CCW. So anyone that has any experience with the Critical Defense ammo in a M&P, good or bad it would be nice to hear from you on your findings. Smiler

George is spot on!
Run 200-300 rounds of FMJ before you start testing for "carry rounds".

I currently have them loaded and shot a few, with no problems. I have a XD 40 and have put around 600 rounds through it without a hitch. I have a hard time believing that a small rubber plug that is basically flush in a hollow point can cause a jam. I tend to think its just new and some folks are afraid of new. That being said, extensive testing with a new load is ALWAYS a good idea.

Cannot comment on the 40, but I have shot it in my Taurus .380 and 9mm CZ2075, and found it reliable, and accurate.
