Thinking of getting a glock 19 for carry.

I have a HK P30 - great ergonomics but carrying is a little bulky. I also have a kimber super carry pro but 1911 don't do anything for me. SO leaning towards glock 19.

what is the best holster for glock 19 - something that covers the trigger.

Thanks,

Mike

The new fobus locking holster is nice also.

There are may Holsters for Glocks out there you well find one to suit your needs.

The 19 is a little bulky for me to carry, but it is a great gun. I have one as does my wife. She has a crossbreed holster and I prefer Blade-Tech.

Well, it’s certainly not a thing of great beauty. More like that trusty hammer in the tool box. You pick it up and you know it’s going to work.

I use the 19 for winter time carry with a Crossbreed IWB and a sweat shirt. Standard magazine is 15 round for carry, then I have a 17 round with grip extension collar that locks on the bottom. This gives me a full size grip when used as a house gun, or at the range.

I have a G23, same dimensions as the G19. I don't like kydex (no offense fellas, personal preference), so I use a Mitch Rosen 5JR-EXP for it. It's hard to beat for a basic, but decent, leather OWB pancake holster. I'm in shape, my shape is round, so I use an OWB holster. Cool

I am a retired SWAT officer of 24 years from New York. My Dept transitioned from 38's to G19 in 1990 and I have been carrying one ever since.

I bought and sold a few 1911's, HK P7, Sig P226, SW M&P, and a few others but I sold them all and now I only have two handguns in my possession....both G19's set up identically.

I swear by my Glock and I carry one year round in an INGOG appendix holster.

The G19 has never disappointed me and I have been in a few tight spots in my careerSmiler

They are ugly but in a beautiful way!

The 19 is a great pistol. It has overcome two of my biggest shooting prejudices. For 25 years I would not consider using a damn plastic pistol but once I finally gave the Glocks a chance they have really grown on me the last couple of years. And, I was a .45 snob. I have switched over from my beloved 1911s and now I carry a 30S but I am willing to admit that with modern ammunition the gap between 9mm and .45 ACP is not what it used to be. Nothing wrong with the 19 at all. I have tried the X-Grip sleeves with a 17 magazine for them but I don't like the way they feel in my hand. I prefer the Pearce grip extensions. My wife likes the 19 a lot and I would feel fine carrying it too.

Forgot to add, I carry in Raven Concealment IWB holsters. They are pricey and have a long lead time when you order one but they keep the pistol nice and snug up against my love handles better than any other holster I have tried, and they are very comfortable for me.

Nothing wrong about a glock of any size- of course some sizes tend to lend better to concealed carry, I like the sub compact 27, and the house gun is a 22, of course, shooting what you can hit with is essential, some like the glock grip angle, some hate it- but anything can be learned if practiced with and used preferably exclusively ( I don't switch between a 1911 and a glock except perhaps seasonally, but not from day to day).

If anything, my family has determined that commonality between holsters, mags, ammo and guns is a fine thing. Must be a crossover from my military mindset. My son wanted a pistol years ago, and I told him I'd buy him anything as long as it was a glock....in 40 cal.

I have let people in the market for a new gun shoot my 19 and 17 at the range. I see they OFTEN wind up buying the 19.
I put Talon grips on mine.

Try Stealth Gear Holsters out of Utah. Excellent for Florida's humid weather. Also first class service.

The only thing I might add is you might want to try a Springfield XDm- they fit your hand different--some like one some the other. Its just personal preference.

Took a look at glock 19 mos. Liked it. Hk p30 i own has much better ergonomics. But as a carry gun I want to keep it as simple as possible. I have been assured that a glock with a covered trigger will not discharge under all senarios.

Side note - anyone else have a mos - pistol specifically designed for use with optics?

My future firearms investments are all directed towards optics upgrades. Optics make be shoot better.

Thanks,

Mike

Not quite true I don't believe. There was a case a few years ago about a cop in a restroom taking a...well #2! He attempted to hang his gunbelt on the clothes hanger on the door, instead he put the hanger through the Glock trigger. The weight of the belt fired the gun, which then fired repeatedly as it recoiled and then was weighted down. Don't know how many rounds were fired but it was several! I still like Glocks though.

If the trigger is covered by leather or plastic how can they put a hanger thru it. I was reading the book on Glock and it said they have never lost a product liability case. all accidents are due to operator error.

Also the cost of making one of these Glock 19 is $60. Nice mark up - no wonder Gaston Glock is a billionaire (only one in the gun industry).

Sorry Beretta, don't know the details. Perhaps someone else can chime in. In any case this certainly seems like operator error to me, and not a product liability case. I own two Glocks, a Glock 17 and a Glock 17L. Love 'em both, especially the 17L.
Peter.

I am thinking on a Glock 34 after the Glock 19 - both MOS as I want to have optics on my guns.

I have a gen 1 Glock 17. Someone told me they are becoming collector items.

I am cutting back on gun and upgrading optics.

I think optics are game changers. Nothing really new in guns has taken place in last 40-50 years maybe more. But optics change the end out come - hitting the target and they get better every year.

Beretta, as you know, optics on handguns have been around a long time. I have several guns: my raceguns and my hunting handguns, that have optics. The game changer as you point out is that the optics are now small enough to put on an all purpose handgun, mounted on the slide itself, and the industry seems to be standardizing on bases. Prices are still too high for me, so I am waiting for the Chinese manufacturers to chip in (no pun intended). Having said that, there are some issues that still need to be resolved, the main one being that of debris from the ejection cycle getting on the front lens of the optic.
Peter.

Most of my career I packed a Browning HP or a Colt Commander in my belt butt forward, known back then as the "Mexican carry". I still do that, but now I pack a very small S&W M&P Body Guard in .380..It is very hard to conceal most pistols IMO, especially on the hot Texas border...

I never could get used to the Glock Trigger system, some like it, but guess I carried cocked and locked to many years, and old dogs don't change..
