I'm thinking about buying a Ruger SR9 for my wife. She's happy with the ergonomics and the price is right. It seems like the issues associated with the original model have been resolved. Anyone have any real world experience with one of these pistols?

Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it's supposed to do.

No real experience. After I fondled one and pulled that horrendous trigger, I handed it back and tried to forget how good the other features felt. If they'd put a decent trigger in that thing they could give the other plastic pistol makers a run for their money. As it is, probably not...
