In case you haven't yet noticed, Wm.S.Ladd is NOT a fan of Glocks. Glocks are the Green Eggs and Ham of guns to Laddyboy.

Glad we got that strait, in case any of you were confused.

I bet that in his nightmares, he is running from a BG, and the only thing he has to defend himself is a Glock 19. Rather than use the Glock, he runs and is shot in the back by said BG.

Shall we move on now? wave

I'm just funnin'. I understand how severe firearm prejudice can be. Been going to gun prejudice anonymous for two years now for my own problems.
Can you see me at the meetings? "My name is Daniel and I hate a .270 so bad, that if I pick up a .270 case while scavenging brass at the range, I break out in hives."

I've also always thought that people who buy Brownings have more $$$$ than sense. I do acknowledge that they are decent guns, just priced about $200 too high. The buck logo is nice, but I'm not payin $200 for it.

I second your dislike of 9mm's. Always seemed to me like a good way to piss a mean man off is to shoot him with a 9mm.

I'd say it's the difference between hitting someone with a flyswatter once and hitting with it 6 times.

I dislike semi-auto rifles for hunting purposes AND see-through scope mounts! To see both together gives me the screaming heebie-jeebies!

And, while this might not be a firearms prejudice, while I love fine firearms, I despise fine firearms snobs.

hit him once with a 45 or a 10mm Big Grin and be done with it Big Grin. I too dislike da 9. and 380. 380 is like taking some thing to small to begin with da 9 and making it smaller.

I own a 9mm, actually . . . four of them. Three Uzi and a Kahr. I guarantee the Uzi will get the job done.

If not, we can swap out the bbl. and bolt to 45 ACP, which cuts down mag capacity, but hey . . . It's a fair trade.

I have a 32 ACP -- Don't be in front of it when it goes bang.

I owned a 380 ACP once, nice Colt Mustang. Basically it's a small 1911.

I owned a Glock 22 at one point, for about three weeks. 40 S&W is annoying. I keep picking up the brass at the range, thinking it's 45 ACP.

Can't stand the Glock trigger . . . but we mentioned that before.

Yeah, so maybe the three paragraph "political signature" with graphics and photos should be viewed as a breach of decorum?

The 45-70 being considered a "primitive weapon".
Back when all you had was the muzzleloader, that took dedication. You acually had to know something about powder charges and proper gun cleaning. Something that dads taught their sons. Anything other than the old "smoke pole" is just cheating.

I got ticked every time someone wanted to show me their new inline. And is same now with the 45-70.

But a Glock 17 is one of the most reliable handguns on the Planet...

And one of the longest lasting.

I must say that my very first semi-auto pistol to shoot was a g17. It was one of the first and wouldn't hit the broadside of a barn, at least the day we tried it out. BTW, it wasn't just me, the 25 year veteran Navy man and cop who was my buddy's dad, and the gun owner, couldn't hit squat with it either. I don't know if it was just that gun, the ammo we had, or what the deal was, but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth toward glocks that persists to this day. I hear that they are supposed to be decently accurate, but still haven't picked up another.

Sorry daniel, that does not establish anything! My Glock 17 is not a target gun, but I don't think it was designed to be. I bought a Wilson barrel for it (to shoot lead bullets) and it will easily hold the 8 ring at 25 yards.

No, the Glock 17 is not a target gun....

But, you would not want me to shoot at you at 100 yards with it...

In fact they shoot about the same size group at 100 yards as they do at 25 yards!!!
Whats up with that???

This one was really bad. It wouldn't hit the standard man silhouette target at 35 yards half the time. Maybe it was just that gun. People who like them seem to really like them. I'm just used to being able to aim for and expect to hit something a lot smaller than 3 ft. wide. stir

And, No, I wouldn't want to be the target at any range, with any gun. I would actually consider buying a Glock, BUT, I'd sure as hell want to test fire a few first.

Though I prefer the HK USP 's fit and feel in my hand,

I have fired many Glocks,
all were accurate, not to match standards,
but to combat standards .

Have not run into the situation described-- IMO,
the weapon or holder or both may have problems.

(not trying to offend,
as I have seen neither in this case)

had problems, this account was 15-20 years ago when I was 12ish (making it closer to 20 years ago. I know the glock (I think the 17 was the only one at the time) was very new and this may have even been the first year. Just made my "first impression" a bad one. I'm pretty much a revolver guy anyway. Don't yet own a single semi-auto, and I'm sure a 1911 will be my first.

Just went a looked it up and wiki says the glock was first produced in 1982. This occurred more like the late 80's, but I do remember they were just becoming mainstream and this one was the first I'd actually seen or seen fired. Then again, I grew up in a town of 5000 people...

Daniel, did you see where it was shooting? Glocks from the factory shoot about 6" left at 25 yards. All of them! It may just have needed s little rear sight drifting!
Wink, I am not familiar with that "Mamba" model. Is it Europe only?

Twenty years ago... You're kidding right?

Off Paper is the best I can tell ya. I know I was reloading for rifles by the time this happened, so I'd have had sense enough to see the obvious and simple. Maybe it was a fluke. I don't know. Just left me with a bad taste for Glocks. I'm a revolver man at heart anyway.
