I'm scheduled to leave for Australia to hunt Buffalo the last of June. My wife and I are traveling first to Sydney for a couple of days then to Cairns for a few days and then on to Gove to be picked up and begin our hunt. I would really like to bring my own rifle but don't know if it's worth it or if it's even possible with the stops we are makeing.

What do you guys think?

Talk to your outfitter re the papertrail required.
If it were me I always prefer to use my own equipment with which I have confidence and familiarity.

definatly bring your own rifle,Outfitter gets paid to organise the paperwork as well the hunt. Our firearm laws are restrictive, but certainly not that difficult if you prefer to use your own firearm. personally i think it is a must!!

I would bring my own rifle unless you are not fussy.

Any good Top End outfitter should be able to help you get the permit easy enough.

Thanks for the input. I have the paperwork for my permit. I'd much rather hunt with my own rifle than a borrowed one.
