Well done Muzza and co. I'm guessing its the youngsters kill, so congratulations. He looks happy. A question. All the Kiwi goat photos posted seem to be small horned. Is this the case or are you shooting younger ones for meat? In my old stomping grounds in the Flinders the goats grew up to medium sized horns and to find the really large ones you had to go the NSW or to flat station country nearer the desert to the West. The last area I only know from examining the monsters in a truck crate at a fuel station at Port Augusta. So horn size can be genetic or depend on the terrain IMO. It's always good to see a youngster learning to shoot and hunt for the future of our sport.

Great to see you out with your boys! I wish I had the opportunity when my boys were young enough. That second pick looks a lot like Wanganui Park where I hunted a few weeks back. Regards 303Guy

Yep - thats my little guy out with his own rifle - at 8..... John - not many big heads in this area , plus most of what we saw were nannies and juvenile s. All - and I mean all - the female goats had the proverbial belly full of arms and legs , even the fairly young ones. Its just on kidding time so we had a bit of an effect on the future population in that area. Its a conservation covenant , in eastern Taranaki - so it needs constant goat control - and i dont mind walking the tracks with the family in tow - even wifey manages to shoot a goat or two as well. ________________________ Old enough to know better

With the green feed in Kiwi photos, the goats must be very fat.

Hi Muzza, Nice One, my wife doesnt like coming goat shooting with me, she has a nasty reaction to hills, its called moaning!! me and a friend did the same thing last week except for the Huntly convencey. The land owner had a problem with them eating her roses on her front lawn!!! so a bomb up later we had 35 dead goats Yipee! Happy Landowner, And No we didnt shoot them on her front lawn, goats have a funny way of knowing what we are there for so they left the scene pretty bloody quick, took us 1.5 hrs to head them off, up hill down dale, but finally got them. So to answer your question... Yes and I try to get out every Sunday. Regards Runas. War is inevitable, if idiots are in charge of countries
