Looks like our bunch of ruling twats have been giving your lot lessons in how to be bigger twats.

'I don't get it, Big Dan.' How come NSW is copping all this stuff when it is the state with a hunter's party in Parliament? Tell me, Scriptus, how do your countrymen pronounce 'twats'? I always thought the 'a' came out as in what but the Brits (once the master of the long 'a') now seem to do it as in that.

Look forward to producing your rifle rego paperwork when buying ammo. I heard it's coming in Jan 2013 in NSW. Bugger. Regards, Bob.

Had to do this in W.A. Since 1974 or earlier. The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. If you so wish, you can substitute the "a" with an "o" and that I think is the normal spelling. Calling someone here a "twot" [as in what] gets a quicker angry reaction. Call someone a "twat" [as in that] and the chances that you could have departed the scene at a leisurely pace before the beggar works out what he has just been called. These days it does pay one to get into a fight. It is not only "politically incorrect," but with the new firearm laws, any indication of violence could cost a person all his firearm licences. I trust that that helps.

The Legislation has been passed but it is unworkable at present so not in force. There is not date for it to come into effect as yet. There are factions within the NSW Liberal party that really dislike Barry O'Farrel's dealings with the Shooters and Fishers party. Rumour has it, one of those factions includes Gallacher, the police commissioner. TSFP shres the ballance of power, and we really need a third senator in to hold the balance outright. We have stopped a lot of stuff that was in the pipeline for shooters, and we've opened up more hunting areas. What we need to do now is remember to vote for TSFP in next state senate election.

The Legislation has been passed but it is unworkable at present so not in force.???? Exactly the type of thing that these chaps pull, then quietly sneak it through. One has to ask the question, "How can any legislation be passed if it is not workable?" It seems as though politicians all over are on their own mission and the hell with everyone else.

Thanks Scriptus, hearing the 'flat' British pronunciation so much on TV, I was wondered if I'd been wrong all my life. But, with your answer and hearing an American pronounce it 'twot' yesterday, I wonder when the Poms will learn to speak English.

Glad I could help. I must agree, the Poms for the most part are pretty much an in-articulate lot, and even more so as my tinnitus worsens.

The govt can choose to do deals with the Greens OR Shooters to clear legiislation in the Upper House. In the case of the Ammo Bill it had bipartisan support so we were double-fucked!! We have had other wins though - like the Hational Parks hunting deal. A day spent in the bush is a day added to your life Hunt Australia - Website Hunt Australia - Facebook Hunt Australia - TV

Ohh to be a politician...........like hell. The object of the bill has little impact on any of them, what do they care whether its administratable or not. What they cared about was being seen by the public to be doing something about the spate of drive-by shootings in Sydney. The public wasn't going to know what would actually make a difference . The bureaucrats knew it would make no difference The politicians wanted to be seen to be doing "something" & were happy to introduce legislation that would do nothing & affect no one, but be assumed by the 'great unwashed' to be doing something. Win-Win for all the political factions. Stupid world we live in. Reality means little ..........perception means a lot. Its not going to affect ammunition components , just branded loaded ammo. Whats of more concern is the exposure drafts of the amendments to the firearms act & regulations that were delayed by the Ammo Bill & are only now seeing the light of day. As always , the risk is not necessarily in what the exposure drafts say , but in what the final legislation placed before parliament says.

The problem is, it is the Conservative side of politics that introduce these laws. Go figure.

I understand that these ammunition laws are going to be well watered-down before they are ever implemented at the gunshop level. A day spent in the bush is a day added to your life Hunt Australia - Website Hunt Australia - Facebook Hunt Australia - TV
