Probably the easiest to get [and as good as any] is just anhydrous lanolin. Available at pharmacies, and maybe health food shops. Or have a look around in the medicinal section of the supermarket.

This is what Ed Harris used in the Ed's Red solvent formula as a rust preventive - it was also used in the original Frankford Arsenal Gun Cleaner No.18 formula, that Ed used as a starting point.

Or there's an aerosol version sold under the 'Lanotec' banner - industrial tool and bearing suppliers would be the best place to look, for this one. Also Repco, according to the Lanotec website.

Cheers,
Doug

If you can find it, RIG (Silencio, the hearing protection people now seem to own it) is first class protection in wet climates. I've used RIG for 40 years in Louisiana and Florida in the USA--heat, humidity, salty air, hurricanes, whatever. RIG will take care of your equipment

CPD32 - This is a BP product that has a special grease immersed in white spirit. The product is used commercially by the majority of barrel manufacturers to protect their property.
I've used it for many years on long term storage guns and it will not run off even if they are stood vertically.

Hold still varmint; while I plugs yer!
